Lets see... -1 for the red white and blue labels -1 for the yellow black labels -1 to make a Night Boomer -1 to be Chromed for Sky Patrol -1 as the Scythe -1 as Silent Strike regular labels -1 as Silent Strike black on black labels And I have an original as well. And the sick dude in me really wants more because I want to make a Python one and a Tiger Force one and a Slaughter's Marauders one, and a Desert Patrol one. I may have a serious problem. |

Can I honestly tell you how many Skystrikers I bought?

But that right there underscores what I think the biggest obstacle to a re-release or re-imagining of the Flagg is--its sheer size. I'm not broke. I'm not going to boast about how much I have saved up, or what I make, except to say that if the Flagg was in fact rereleased, I could afford one if so inclined. But because I live in California, I have a barely 600-square-foot apartment. I would have no place to put the damn thing! I already mentioned lack of space just for some of my existing vehicles, or even more modest playsets (there's 2 or 3 from PTE I'd LOVE to have if I knew where they could go); goodness knows where I would put a 7-foot long aircraft carrier. Remember, this was a product of the 80s. The economy has changed. The housing market has changed. People's attitudes towards the military has changed, and yes, that does affect how military toys in general sell. This is a product of a different time. Yes, if it got remade, it would still have an audience, but probably not enough to justify its existence. It wouldn't succeed at retail, and the shipping costs on that thing would most likely be nightmarish.

I imagine the real reason Hasbro isn't putting out a USS Flagg this year is because they are rereleasing the Defiant and it wouldn't be smart to release two large playsets in the same year.
