I've always wandered why his name and birthplace are classified, but no other joe is. Was his name mentioned in the comics when he went to have facial surgery? I'm sure this was meant to add appeal to the character, but its been 25 yrs, it is getting old!

any ideas?

Back in the late eighties, most of SE's secrets were revealed. by the mid-nineties, his name was his only remaining secret. I think it's better that way. A soldier with no name could be anyone, and that makes him more relateable.

Even today, when DD did Snake Eyes Declassified, they revealed everything, but his name and place of birth. As mentioned above, guess they gotta keep something secret, to keep that "mystery" vibe going.

If they told you his name and place of birth they would then have to kill you.

I'm slowly picking (SE: Declassified) these up. How far did DD stray from the original storyline? Is Snakes and Storm Shadow like James Bond now?

PS. I didn't read the comics.

The straying is minimal. Jerwa definitely knew the universe and characters.

Unfortuantley the second issue is total BS. Other than SE's days between the military and the clan (just WAY too many coincidences and leaps of logic) the story is very accurate. Not particularly inspiring as told, but accurate.

I found the whole story pretty cool. In the Marvel run, by the time they went into how Zartan & Firefly came into the plot, I stopped reading the comics. But DD gives more insight into the characters, like Zartan and what started him to be the way he is now.

Larry said that all of these things would have been explained in time.

Number one reason is that he can't talk and has no voice. Number two would be because you never get to see his disfigured face. And number three, we still don't know what his name is and where he is from in the US originally.

It's cool that a character from 1982 is still so mysterious. Can't say that about many other characters anymore.

In the comics (marvel) you didn't even get a thought balloon from snake eyes, which was awesome in itself.
