That's the main reason I haven't pre-ordered anything (Other than 3 figures from wave 4) I always find everything in the store (With the exception of wave 4, oddly enough )

This is something I learned about when I ordered the second wave of the Star Wars VOTC figures. When I first order figures from the internet, it was a pretty easy experiece, very satisfying. I think most people had pretty much the same experience. Then, it blew up and the internet became just as legitimate an outlet for buying as was getting in the car and driving to Wal-Mart 10 times a week.
But when you order from the net, you don't get that instant gratification you do from buying at retail. And now these websites offer "pre"orders, which means they can put you in line to get the figures when they come out, but these websites don't have the buying power of a Wal-Mart or Target. Clicking on that button and submitting your order makes you feel like the moneys already changed hands, despite them not utilizing your credit card information until they recieve their orders from Hasbro. (I actually have a few issues with this preorder b.s., but I'm glad so many people are satisfied. Especially when sites like BBTS just drop orders when it suits them) Bottom line, it all comes down to patince, either way you go. Patience isn't my strongest virtue, so it really can be unbearable. I only preordered Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow when the singles first hit, from BBTS, to see if I would like the figures. Since then I have found all waves and comic packs(except wave 4 singles) at retail and from reading other boards, I got'em from retail before their preorders shipped.

I have the as long as I get them attitude so it really doesn't matter when it happens as long as it happens, but the whole preorder crap is honestly worthless. By the time they get shipped off you will probally own quadruples of the vhtf figures!

It's great for backup purposes, why waste time, gas, and money searching every day when you know that you have them in the PreOrdered. Sure it'll take a while but after many nights of searching, it just makes it easier just to go online and click and sit.
I've ordered wave 2, 3, 4 and 5 from BBTS.. got them after i had already found them in retail (except for wave 4 and i got wave 2 from HTS minus troopers). I have no problem with them but i do wish the prices were retail or cheaper but like someone said, they have no clout like the bigger retailers who probably get them wholesale or close to it. When reports of new figures are out, i normally dash out everyday until i find a few sets (for myself, friends, or for trade).. then i stop and maybe look if i'm in the area or just need to kill time. Try and make contact with another individual on the board who's willing to help out. I've done that and it made my life along with theirs easier. What i may find in stores, he/she might not.. and vise versa. Best alternative than paying e-bay prices. |

This is some bulshit though. Im on this bus too. Ive been waiting since october now for wave 5 which has been out apparently for 1 month. BBTS has wave 5 and 6 and comic packs wave 1 and 2 listed under arriving in january.... Im getting tired of waiting.

Many members have found wave 4 and 5(wave 1 2008.) I am with you brother, I am still looking for Wave 4 and Wave 5. I am trying to look for website from Hasbro where I can directly asked them about the distribution, but so far I found none. If the problem still have not address in 2008, I think scalpers will win.

patience is not my strongest virtue, but it is becoming one. i have preordered every wave from bbts, but cancelled all but 4 and 5. i have found two sets of 4 and recieved the 4. all but one of 5 have eluded me in retail and online thus far. one thing that helps is the ask at the store when the truck comes in and if you can show up on that morning. for target it is specific days, walmart is everyday, so i don't bother checking there in the morning on the way to work. i have the numbers programmed into my phone for the walmarts and i just call and ask rather than burn petrol. target usually stocks their toys overnight and are usually delivered 3 times a week. all the targets in my route to work do this on the same day so i can usually plan my trips on the way to work on those days. it's basically worked into my weekly routine to check these days early in the morning. it takes time, but law of averages says i will be lucky if i am patient and stick to it.
knowing the truck days certainly cuts down on wasting my time and gas. ask the stockers, they are generally nice people and will be upfront and honest with you. |
