Friends, collectors, fellow G.I. Joe Club members.
We have reached an important time in G.I. Joe collecting history: the club's inclusion of a Shattered Glass figure in FSS 5.0. For the uninitiated, Shattered Glass is basically the Club's authorized opposite-world fanfic where Joes are the villains and Cobras are the good guys. They've been doing it for years with Transformers with Evil Autobots and Heroic Decepticons, and it usually results in lazy storytelling and lazier repainted toys. It's a world where Serpentor will be made up of history's most benevolent recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize, Snake-Eyes is handsome and talks constantly, and Cross-Country hates country music. With the inclusion of Shattered Glass Xamot in FSS 5.0, I'm worried the Club will spend its two-year extension with a heavy emphasis on Shattered Glass, perhaps even making a Shattered Glass convention set in 2017 or 2018, or more SG figures in FSS 6. Personally, I feel like Xamot is a waste of a spot that could have been better used on an in-demand character, and that the Club's tendency to sometimes be...self-indulgent...with concepts like this can lead them down the wrong path. So to you I say, if you're not a fan of Shattered Glass, let's let the club know. The Club certainly marches to the beat of its own drummer, but I figure the least I can do is let them know that's not the direction I want to see them going with the toys. And if you are a fan of Shattered Glass, well...I guess that's a thing that could happen, too. |

I think it's just a 1 off and you are overthinking it.

I'm one of the few that like the crazy stories that the Adventure Team concept centered upon. Most of the stories were great. Do we need action figures for it... not so much. I'd almost rather see more Adventure Team figures. Bulletman is a great start at this year's Con!

I think it's a good excuse to get a blind suited figure to use for countless customs.

I like the alternate universe stories, (Sunbow did a two parter which was one of my favorites) and enjoyed the shattered glass concept. But I doubt this will be more than a one shot figure.

Can someone please post a picture of Xamot from the mag. I've never seen it and I want to have an idea of what we're getting into. Thanks in advance. Also a second head sculpt to make a Tomax would be great and sell double the figures.

How long was this story and when was it published? Must've been huge to cover every major TF and Joe.
Are the Oktober Guard "good" or "bad" or...what, in it? No one's going to be customizing an FSS figure. Just a tad too expensive for that. Apparently the Joe "Shattered Glass" happened in the club newsletter. Anyone know which issue this was in? Is now the right time for G.I. Joe “Shattered Glass”? | Generals Joes – A blog about the importance (or unimportance) of little plastic men "For folks who haven’t been reading the G.I. Joe Collectors Club newsletter, in the very fun Adventure Team comic by Todd Pleasant and Rod Whigham (yes, that Rod Whigham) has shown the Adventurers passing through the Bermuda triangle, and into a parallel universe where Cobra is the leading governmental entity, and has recruited some G.I. Joe operatives to serve under them (most notably Flint, Lady Jaye, and Wild Bill)." Last edited by JediJones; 06-19-2016 at 01:46 AM.. |

if done well and not THE focus, and maybe more focused on Worlds Without End, i wouldn't mind it. SG Ultra Magnus has become one of my favorite TF villains.
i dreamed a few years ago of a G.I. Joe/Fringe/Castle crossover (Extensive Enterprises from different dimensions were contacting each other for resource sharing). - |

Look here's the deal, an updated Xamot and Tomax would be awesome. The club never said they were going to start entire "shattered glass" series. We've been desperately needing an update to the head sculpts of the 25th anniversary line. I keep asking everywhere for pics of Xamot from the comics so I can see the source they're planning to use. Brian said at the panel that Xamot would look much like his classic counterpart. If they could give us two head sculpts this could be a solid idea. I really don't think they're going to shove a shattered glass series of figures down our throats.
