I don't believe so. I love the kreo stuff. I don't think mega blocks really has enough brand recognition for it to matter. The only brand that would have probably boosted sales would be actual Lego and I don't see that ever happening.

I hafta agree here. I was deep into kreo for the first year, but I ran out of room and wanted to focus mainly on 4". However, I kept the kreons of my favorite characters, because they're excellent representations of the ARAH figures.

My kids watch Sprout all the time, Disney for Star Wars Rebels...
They are very susceptible to television advertising, each have iPads. Media is the biggest driver of their interests. Right now, I'm buying every Inquisitor, Chopper, Ezra and Zeb because my 4-year old wants it. Good media exposure is buying Star Wars all of my action figure $$$. Hasbro gets it either way, I guess. Plus the $$ on the start-up for the programming comes from Disney, so no wonder that's where they'd rather be (than on a self-financed Joe show). On-topic, I think that MEGA BLOCK stuff is okay and would be Joe-compatible. But, while my boys do have some Lego love, (SW Legos and Lego movie to blame) I'm more focused on 3&3/4 stuff for them. |

No they did not miss the boat. They didn't bother to come to the dock. Me personally I don't like mega blocks or kreo. We are even doing good for Hasbro to even say gijoe. Has anyone went to Hasbro toy shop? They don't even have gijoe listed as a product.

It became too expensive to buy airtime for your commercials across the dozen or so different channels you'd need to broadcast on in order to even have a chance of catching the same number of kids you used to catch on a single Saturday morning back in the 80's. Even then it's unlikely because broadcast and even cable TV is waning as the primary place kids are watching their shows.
According to his insider info, Jem killed 80's animation. Why? Because of the regulations involved. You see, everything was fine until Jem came along. One of the regulations was that a toy could not be advertised on its own show. Mattel capitalized on that. Mattel advertised Jem's biggest competition Barbie on the Jem TV show. Once that started Hasbro (wisely) said no more. We are not going to give our competition a platform to advertise their product during our show. That was the beginning of the end of the successful 80's animation. On topic, no Hasbro was smart. They took a Korean block style that was compatible with Lego that they could acquire for cheap. Since they could not hope to compete with Lego, they should do something that lets them get a percentage of that market. They are trying to create their own niche in the building block market. This has nothing to do with GIJOE, Transformers, or Cityville, it has to do with Lego. Copying Megablocks, would not get them noticed by the consumers who buy Lego. Even if they can draw a small piece of that market, they will have accomplished a pretty hefty feat. Hasbro uses its properties to sell toys. You will see the more innovative concepts hit the more popular brands first, then trickle down to the lesser known or less popular brands if they sell well in those categories.

Kreo is just a fancy name for "hey we are a company that wants to make money off a existing brand but need another silly name for it to do it". No I dont think they missed the boat. Joe is slowly becoming a dieing breed like mask, centurions, etc. No fanbase=no product sold.

No they didnt miss the boat , kreos didnt do that well only available at 1 store and they had all sorts of small pieces/bits as well as the cod line , if ever hasbro missed the boat it was not jumping on a movie line or game line that had A military theme as well that they could build a line for and i think that would have made them more relevant maybe . I said maybe
