We all know why some people don't want to pay 9.99 a figure. But what about those who do/can?
What are your justifications for shelling out a little extra to get the figures? If you don't want to post in there, I don't mind if you PM with your reasons Thanks! |

I'll only pay that much for a figure if I absolutely can not find it in the stores. I paid 25 bucks for Flint thru Toywiz.com. I've been lucky to get most of my Joes at my local Walmart, so I've only paid the sweet 4.88 for them. I'm getting close to the point of spending a little more cash then I'd like for the Troopers though, I've been unable to get those, there always gone. My measly Cobra army only includes 3 Cobra (The Enemy), and 2 Cobra Officers, plus the Officer, Vehicle Driver and Air Trooper that came in the Legions pack.

I just started preordering by the case at bbts. I rarely go shopping, and it costs a gallon of gas for one round-trip to the best place to look. considering it would probably take 4 or so trips to complete a wave, since each run is not likely to be successful, it would equal out to about $9 or so per figure anyway. this way, no wasted time, and guaranteed figs!

I pay about $10 per figure. I live in Canada, so I have to order them off eBay since there is nothing in stores here.
Here is what I paid for each wave. Wave 1 Full Set - $43.99 + $10.76 shipping Black Timber Snake Eyes - $10.00 + $10.00 shipping GI Joe & Cobra 5 Packs - $49.99 + $18.00 shipping Wave 2 Full Set - $29.99 + $11.99 shipping Legions 5 Pack - $14.99 + $8.00 shipping Wave 3 Both Shipwreck versions - $16.00 + $11.00 shipping Zartan (plain card) - $5.00 + $4.11 shipping Zartan (color change) - $10.95 = $7.25 shipping Stalker, Red Ninja, Firefly - $23.97 + $5.99 shipping Wave 4 Case from BBTS - $54.99 + $19.59 shipping Sub Total - $259.87 + $106.69 Grand Total - $366.56 (Ouch) 41 Figures Approximately $8.94 per figure Edit : Since I got a good deal (for eBay) for my Wave 2 set, I am no longer at $10.18 per figure........only $8.94 now Last edited by Cobra Commander; 01-18-2008 at 01:30 PM.. |

I preorder all my cases online, but If I find them retail then retail it is! I cant really justify 10+ for a 5 dollar figure. I think alot of people just cant wait. Some people think it makes them better than others because they spend more.

Living in the UK, I sometimes have no choice but to pay up to $10 per figure. Often I am picking them up loose for far less than that. I don;t collect carded, so that is no problem. I can sometimes get them including the airmail for less than $10.
And therein lies a problem. If Hasbro were ever to release the figures in the UK, they would be retailing at £5.99 to £6.99. In other words, $12 to $14. That is what new Star Wars figures go for in TRU and the few other toy retailers in this country. So it would still make economic sense to buy my figures from the US or Asia. So I say a big thank you to Hasbro for their very narrow-minded, ethnocentric worldwide distribution policy. They are saving me money. Last edited by Kambei; 01-17-2008 at 06:16 AM.. |

No, i don't pay that much for a figure unless its a hard to find figure, like the majority of us. Normally, to justify my spending, i'll sell something on e-bay which helps out and brings down what i spend on a high priced figure from e-bay.
I buy cases online and if i find my sets @ retail, i'll cancel my order unless it's something i want duplicates of. |

I preorder as a failsafe, and if I find stuff at retail, great. But after X amount of trips with nothing to show for it, the cost in gas stops being worth it. |

Like others, I will pay $9.99 or a couple dollars more only if I absolutely cannot find the figure at retail. The couple extra bucks is worth it to me, instead of regularly wasting gas. I did this for half of Wave 5, and wouldn't you know it - they showed up at retail the next day.
