For me personally, I still enjoy the hunt. Sure I waste too much time droping in and out of every retail store I come across, but the thrill of the hunt excites me. For that reason, Ive decided to not buy anything online. So far, I have all waves and except for 1 wave 4 air trooper, which I honestly wouldn't mind passing on. The most I've paid was 6.99 at a grocery store. Granted, I've doubled my gas consumpition at times, which I know adds to the cost per figure. But the hunt and thrill of finding the figs I'm looking for is what really excits me about this new line.

50 dollars online or 28 in the store, 22 extra is a decent savings for gas! The more of them you buy online the more you lose, but there are a ton of things to factor in also. If you find yourself wasting gas than you hunt too frequently!

I don't mind shelling out a little extra dough to make sure I'm not going to miss a figure. I've got three Vipers on pre-order at BBTS at $12 a pop. Am I happy about it? No, but it does give me a little peace of mind that I won't miss out and have to rely on the secondary market.
Here's a short story on why I do that now. During the Joe convention, on Sat. ( I didn't go) I could have bought Piper on Ebay for $50 a piece. I was stubborn and wanted to hold out for the left overs at Hasbro or MC's web sites. Well no such luck, they sold out at the show and within a matter of days they were going for well over $100 each. I f@#$%@ up and have no Piper because of it. I won't let that happen again. One more thing, I love the secondary market and have no problem with it. With Ebay I at least have the option of aquiring something I otherwise would have no access to. Eventually I will buy a Piper, until then I'll just live with my mistake. I hope this help answer your question. |

Hi, just joined here.
I started collecting, again after 25 years after the first ones came out. I have only 3 so far, and I paid $9.99 each Canadian for US carded figures. I know the shop has to cover their shipping costs and have to make something on it so its not that bad. I guess I could drive to the US and buy a whole bunch but I don't have the time for it. I also found some on craigslist for about the same price. I might try ordering online, but since I'm new to finding Joes online, I'm not sure of what stores online to buy from, other than smalljoes which I ordered some o-rings and stands for my old broken ones. Nice forum you guys have! |

I do and often. I live in a small town with 1 Wal Mart next one 30 miles and hardly ever has anything that I'm looking for. Oh Toys R Us 70 miles, Target 90 miles +. So with gas 3.00 a gal. 9 bucks ain't that bad. My Wal Mart hasn't got anything in over a month. How can you build a fan base like that?

Nice forum you guys have! You could drive down here and look for them, but there's no guarantee you'll find them. So it certainly wouldn't be worth the cost in gas for you unless you were coming to the US anyway. A lot of collectors seem to like BBTS (bigbadtoystore.com). I have a pre-order in for Wave 3 '08 (Wave 7) just in case I don't find them in stores. I've been pretty lucky so far, even with some troop builders, and I'll just cancel the order if I find what I need first. |

depends on the figure. I'm always willing to shell out 10 for it if its one I'm dying for. I'll preorder then be assured I'll get at least that one. to me its no big deal. in the end I'm out a 6pk of of beer for the month. no worries.
let alone I'd spend the same amount when gas is factored in!

BigBadToyStore.com has the best prices I've seen online, they also do a very good job packing so your figures cards don't arrive bent and bubbles crushed. I just recieved my wave 4 from them today, and I will definitely buy from them as much as possible. |

I still like the hunt but If I really really want the figure yes I will shell out the bucks to a point. no figure IMHO is worth over $100 (DESTRO or PIPPER SDCC)
