Welcome to the Tank! Very saddened to hear about your loss, not just of your Joes but everything else and your peace of mind.
IF you think VNV is cool wait till you get your first 25th Anniversary figure. The problem with a lot of people in today's world is they grew up without parents. Most people only had one parent if that, who probably spent most of their time working. I find that people who did not have proper parents growing up get stuck in what I like to call "Toddler Mentality". Their bodies may grow but their emotional, mental and conscious development goes little beyond toddler mentality of thinking everything is theirs, everything they can take is theirs, and they don't understand the consequences of their actions on others. They also will only NOT do something out of fear of being punished instead of choosing not to do it because it is the right thing.

I totally understand where your comming from and I feel for ya. It totally sucks when your possessions are stolen. About 10 years ago my entire GI Joe collection including my two most prized Joes (1985 Snake Eyes and 1984 Storm Shadow both in near mint condition) awell as most of my X-Men/X-Force figures were stolen. Since then I hadn't really picke up any Joes untill recently like you I saw Resolute and it made me rember how much I loved GI Joe (as well as miss my old collection).

I have had nightmares about this sort of thing. I am deeply sorry to hear this. If you like 12" figures, Sideshowtoy.com is just getting started with a great line of Joes. Some folks have cleared out a lot of smaller toys to collect the high end displayable pieces.

That's horrible stuff, dude. I live in Texas and if I happen to overhear anyone bragging about that, I'll send them up your way... in a f$#kin' BOX!
Welcome to the tank and hopefully you'll get some good tips on getting your collection back under way...

Wow... what else could be said. That is horrible.
One question... was it insured? Either with the rental company or did you have homeowner's insurance on it? I have H/O insurance on all my stuff. It is insured for full collection value. Sometimes I think it would be better to torch it myself and collect the money... haha (just kidding, of course!). Welcome to the tank! DD The screwed up part is my company is now talking about relocating me back to tennessee which will be a huge headache...this economy has really thrown a monkey wrench into a lot of things. Quote:

While I'm not one to blame societies ills on entertainment such as movies, music and games I do think that that, combined with the poor parental environment, plays a big role in things. I means lets face it alot of the music is all about "getting mine" at any expense and without the parents as a counter balance kids buy into it as the be all end all. Quote:

I live in Texas, I will hunt them down and destroy them for such a crime!!
But in all honesty, Half my Joe collection is in Pittsburgh. I left them in a storage shed when I moved home from college. The girl I was with wanted to bring so much of her stuff I couldn't bring my most important Joe's. Being a stupid guy with a pretty girl, I said that would be fine. So we got a storage shed and it was suppose to inly sit a month, and now four years later it still sits. THIS weekend or next weekend, I'm suppose to go and get my prizes. I hope all is well with them. Fingers crossed. I'm sorry for your lost. People are vicious. I hope people here can help you out. I'll check my collection when I get back and see what I can come up with and if I can help you out too. |
