I was going to write to him for an Airborne autograph, but I'm going to wait for the Transformer movie buzz to die down a bit, as I'm sure he's getting a flood of requests right now. |

Also, Airborne got renamed "Sgt. Airborne" and had two figures released under the Spy Troops/Valor vs. Venom line.
There was another Joe named "Airborne" released in 1990 as part of the Sky Patrol sub-set, but his last name is "Six" not "Talltree" so he's considered a different character all together. |

airborne was my favorite joe as a kid. he really stood out from the rest, at least in the beginning. heres a pic of airborne as a 12' joe with his little brothers. the last joe product i have ever seen at sears. i originally got him and torpedo at sears back in 83.

Ahhh, Airborne. I always use to draw (I loved drawing as a kid and still do) all of the Joes from the cardbacks and Airborne always was one of my faves! Too bad I never actually had the figure. I really think Hasbro will make this guy (if not in 2008, definitely in '09 or '10). I never realized he was a native-American either until later on when Yoejo.com allowed me to see his filecard.

His first appearance was issue 11 of the Marvel series. He dropped out of a Huey in the Falcon Glider.
His best was in issues 31-33. I thought it was funny that he read encyclopedias to relax.

Airborne was my do it all airborne infantry man...I would drop him behind enemy lines with Sneak Peek for forward observation, have him help pilots work on "maintenance", and he would be the winchman when it came to rescuing Joes with the Dragonfly... I always thought of him being like a character you would see in "Band of Brothers", but updated. I hope the 25th version has his "wings" and maybe an "Airborne" screamin' eagle patch on his shoulder.

Airborne was one of my first Joes from the '83 line up. He was also one of my favorites. But I don't every really recall him getting much action in the comics, nor in the cartoon episodes I've seen. I'm hoping Hasbro brings him back in 25th style.
