For me, it was when the special series figures came out. Tiger Force, etc. The figures also started getting unfamiliar. I couldn't associate them with the series anymore.

For me, it was in '91 when they started making neon weapons and spring-loaded missile launchers. I started collecting hockey cards instead.
In 2000 I sold my card collection and started buying back the G.I Joe collection I had as a kid. |

1. Came from a low income family of 6 kids.
2. Transformers was more attractive to me. 3. By '89, I was in 6th grade, my interest for TF and Joes slowly died as I moved on to other interest such as music, skateboarding, and the pretty girls. |

Probably when Mega Marines and Star Brigade started to get too weird for my taste.
Just the thought of "Robo-Joe"...

'88 was the last year I bought/received any Joes cause they were starting to get a bit hokey for me. Plus I found out how much fun girls can be ;)

as soon as they started star brigade , bright/neon colors, ninja everything. they turned it into a joke, all sense of realism slipped away. when vehicles looked more like hookey kit bash stuff vs. anything even remotely practical.

Lost interest when the line ended and Sgt. Savage replaced it and Extreme replaced that. Lost interest again when Sigma 6 replaced Valor Vs Venom. (Yes there was DTC but it was not the same having to get it online or having to depend on TRU's crappy distribution)
