The one thing that really bugged me in Marvel was the brainwave scanner. I thought that was such hogwash. Now, using basically the same engineering as Hama suggested, these things are being developed and tested!
How long until M.A.S.S. is real? I already think they're running a weather dominator on the East Coast. |

How long until M.A.S.S. is real? I already think they're running a weather dominator on the East Coast. The Nazi Bell (Die Glocke) was a Nazi-developed piece of tech that can only be speculated on to what it was supposed to do. Joseph P. Farrell wrote several books that connected some interesting historical facts that purported it was a device built to tap into zero-point energy. It's also been connected to the Kecksburg Incident, to the S.S. officer Hans Kammler and was the central plot element featured in the excellent film Outpost. I highly recommend it. (The sequel wasn't as exciting.) Nikola Tesla (for those who don't know) invented the alternating current system responsible for allowing power to affordably and safely be delivered to our homes, created the modern radio and discovered X-rays, among countless other technological discoveries and inventions that are still being used to develop modern technology today. He also was working on a magnifying transmitter at Colorado Springs and Wardenclyffe Tower and on the Teleforce "Death Ray." After his death, the FBI swooped down and gathered up all his paperwork, much of which has still yet been declassified. H.A.A.R.P. was featured in the G.I. Joe Resolute web-based cartoon. This is a rare instance of actual real-world tech being presented in the world of G.I. Joe as-is. It has been speculated that it can be used as a weather control device, much like the Weather Dominator. It is located in Alaska. The Philadelphia Experiment is an unverified experiment that was supposed to be a sort of invisibility/cloaking device that ended up (depending on what you believe) failing entirely or sent the ship through time and absorbed some of the crew members into the bulkheads. The Montauk Project is another clouded-in-secrecy conspiracy-riddled source of countless stories and theories. Lots of interesting but unprovable arguments have sprouted out of the grounds of Long Island. Project MKULTRA was a CIA operation that is most commonly known for using LSD to try to brainwash people into carrying out their orders. I think it was also linked to Princeton's PEAR lab, which did a lot of research in the areas of remote viewing, telekinesis and other parapsychological investigations. And these are all just the tip of the iceberg.

Very interesting stuff when you consider that a lot of new technologies are on the edge of being introduced that we thought of as sci-fi as kids. Heck, I'm still amazed at cell phones...nice thread.

I think of lots of the less conventional Cobra VTOL aircraft as very reminiscent (in concept if not always form) of the later WWII era experimental aircraft that Germany was coming up with.
The Firebat for instance is very similar in idea to the German Comet for instance - a short range rocket assisted super fast interceptor. |

Finally finished updating the all new-style articulation checklist here. Also got to piddle around with some of my customizing yesterday. Now maybe I can get back to doing some more work on this project.

Interesting idea. I'd like to know if the Snowcat was based on any real world design.

After putting in over 55 hours at work this week, I haven't gotten around to doing anything more with this. I have previously been looking at design influences for the Snowcat, and while they don't look anything like it the Allis-Chalmers M7 Snow Tractor was used by the U.S. Air Force back in the 1940s. Obviously it's not much different than most conventional halftracks. More modern versions like the Iveco 6x6 Hover Track Truck that has a large rubber track surrounding the two rear wheels on either side. But this came much later than the Snowcat.
