I open nearly everything and my son plays with most of it. There is a lot though so many sit on shelves waiting their turn and building up a nice layer of dust (suffer from dust hemorrhaging in West Texas). So how do you clean your stuff in an efficient manner?

Swiffers, actually.
When I dust, which is rarely. People come over and write "Dust, bitch!" in the dust. Then later they come back and write "I told you to dust, bitch!" over the original "Dust, bitch!" that is still there. ::Sneezes and blows nose loudly and wetly:: |

I use a detailing brush used for cars and found at any auto parts store and wal-mart or dollar tree.

well as being a painter by trade, we use old retired brushes an call em dust brushes, so when i got into joes, i took that same knowledge an merged it. but i wouldnt use a house paint brush though. but get a small brush , an try a can of compressed air. i know all this was said above, but i had the answer when i read the thread. so like all others said, it be thy same..
dust sucks man. best bet is to make a enclosed case of some sort, if it be a single boxed shelf wrapping the perimeter of the room, then have plexi cut to size at your local glass shop, counter sink the screws, an bam you got a enclosed dustless shelf. i did the same technique, but i made mine 4x4 sq. it's like a giant plasma on the wall, so it is out of the way an still have floor space. but i would if i were you, would make a single shelf along the wall the length of the wall, about 12 inches wide, boxed, but it would obviously be rectangled, an then cover the face wit' some plexi, you dont have to go thick plexi. if you can get 1/8th thick get it, it will be cheaper, an easier to manuever, compared to 1/4 inch thick. i hope this helps .. oh an if you do decide to do such, get some cabinet knobs, that makes it easy to hang an take off, while adding new toys to the shelf. or takin some out to play wit! |
