Hey guys revisiting my old Joe comics during the Hama run and forgot that Hawk in the comics had blonde hair. Did it stay blonde through out the entire run?
I just found it odd that the other character pretty much look exactly like their sunbow counterparts except Hawk. I also forgot that Tripwire tripped up all the time. Some of the best stuff printed in comics. |

Yeah, Hawk's hair stayed blonde at the beginning, then actually toward the end it was brown.

I need to find out if it was changed for the cartoon or beforehand. The show started in 85. I'm in the 30's of the comic series which was produced in 84.

Hawk wasn't in the cartoon series until Arise, Serpentor, Arise in 1986. The original air date was Sept. 15, 1986.
Hawk's hair was still blonde well into the Cobra Civil War, issues 73-77 in year 1988 and well into the 100's. His hair went to brown is issue 128, year 1992. Phewsh! That was a lot of searching... lol

Forgot to mention... 1986 for Marvel comics spanned issues 43-54
Civil War issues were 73-77 and that was 1988. Issue 128 was in 1992

There was a good reason for blond hair, version 1 hawk had blond hair in 1982 and issue #1, so to change his hair to brown in the comics would have been weird.

I agree with Hama when he said Duke and Hawk were interchangeable. I really saw no reason to have Duke in the comic. Hawk was the man. Duke was the man in the cartoon. There were times I confused the two in the comics, as did the artists.

Yah Duke rolled in with Roadblock and saved all the joes at the funeral. Hawk was more worried about getting his precious base put back together to help the joes on any missions. |

Stalker was a better first sergeant than Duke.
