Man....I am friggin' fired up!
I tried to rent a car tonight for a one-day seminar I have to go to in New Hampshire - and neither Alamo nor Budget would let me rent a car because I only had a debit card! I was/am so pissed that I fired off an angry email on both their websites. Here's the one I sent to Budget, lol. I would like to complain about how you handle rentals, specifically with debit cards. I attempted to pick up my rental tonight, using my debit card, and was told that I cannot because Experian did not allow/approve a credit check. The initial extra $200 you charge for debit card usage is fine, but the credit check policy is absolutely ridiculous. I have rented through Hertz MANY times and have never had any problems. I would have gone through Hertz again, but they had no vehicles available tonight. So I go to Budget and I can't rent a car without a CREDIT CHECK? For a $65 car rental? I have no idea why Experian did not approve this, but my credit is fine. I was approved for and subsequently paid off an $18,000 loan recently, and paid off a $2000 loan (that I was obviously approved for) YESTERDAY! But yet I am somehow denied - again - a measly $65 car rental? Why don't I just get a credit card, you ask? Because I DON'T NEED IT. I have THOUSANDS of dollars in the bank and on in my debit card accounts. It absolutely should not be so difficult to rent a vehicle, and you can be sure that I will NEVER attempt to rent a car from your company again - even if I DO have a credit card at some time in the future.
