World’s only turbine-powered Batmobile goes on sale
Now here’s a ride truly fit for Bruce Wayne. The world’s first and only jet turbine-powered Batmobile is currently up for sale on the Internet auction site eBay, with a hefty buy it now price of $620,000 US ($607,000 Cdn). The black beauty, which was constructed by designer Casey Putsch, replicates the Batmobile featured in the 1989 Tim Burton/Michael Keaton film Batman (as opposed to the more modern Tumbler variation seen in the Christian Bale movies). The car, which is registered for street use in the U.S. and currently located in Dublin, Ohio, only has 3,200 km recorded on the odometer, and comes loaded with features and gadgets that would make the Dark Knight himself proud. The 2,800 lb. beast boasts a military-grade 365 horsepower Boeing turboshaft engine. Inside the cockpit, an iPad loaded with digital avionics sits on the dash to help monitor the jet engine. There’s a stereo, an air horn, and filling up won’t be a problem: this Batmobile runs on everything from Jet A, Kerosene, or Diesel fuel. Mounted machine gun and rocket launchers, however, aren’t included. The eBay listing says the car drives just as well on the highway as it does on city streets, and maintenance and operation of the vehicle is simple. “This car is ready to be enjoyed by an enthusiast who is looking for the ultimate luxury in one-upmanship,” the listing says. Bruce Wayne wannabes need apply only.

I would hate to be the buyer's neighbor. Could you imagine that thing leaving for work everyday at 6 AM? |
