I don't know, it's my first time playing this but I don't see how a limit on that one hour changes anything at all. Meh. The problem is on the last day. Hypothetical situation: at midnight on the last day, each team has 55HP (a highly unlikely scenario, but for arguments sake). Lets say that one team has 30 people up that night, but the other team only has 15 because of the late hour. The team with 30 will invariably win. And people who are unable to be on at that hour due to work, or other real life issues feel left out, and wind up being frustrated and (in some cases) leaving the game. The limit was created to prevent this situation on the last day, and was applied to all days because sometimes its hard to predict the 'last day' ahead of time (and it's a bit hard for everyone to remember the limit if it only applies to one day). Now, various people on both teams support the 'free for all' approach (generally the late night posters), and others support the limit approach (Generally the day-time posters), and to still others it doesn't matter as they'll post when they feel like it anyway. This limit helps push more of the game action to the daytime hours when more people are able and willing to be online. On the last day, this is where the effect really is because its basically "Whoever posts more faster wins." Its is NOT a perfect solution, but I've yet to see someone come up with another idea that works well (others have been suggested, but there's usually some slight loophole, or other problem). That said, if you have an idea that you think might be a better way to keep things fair, do suggest it to our GM. It could make for a more interesting game. As for the comment that "this is war", I do take issue with that. Its a GAME! First and foremost its where people come to have fun and relax a bit. Its not a job, its not work, its not war. Yes, winning is nice, but it shouldn't be the sole reason that a person plays. It should be to have fun and spend time getting to know your (generic your) fellow tankers. |

I never said it was a perfect solution. There are problems. Members of both teams don't like it. INCLUDING ME!
However, I do recognize that it was created for a logical reason. Is it ideal? no. If someone finds an alternate that won't alienate the day-time posters who can't be here at reset, go for it. I'm more than willing to give it a shot. |
