Thanks for all the advice guys. yeah, i was really groggy this morning when i tested at 26. I think im gonna check it again after my lunch break. I hadn't eaten anything at the time i tested, so i am feeling loads better now after eating. The doc thinks i might have been diabetic since childhood, but i dunno. My eating habits have been crap, so I am in the process of fixing that. It is what it is i guess.
It's a bummer, for sure, but nothing that can't be survived. Plus, you've got good company. ME!

can diabetics have stuff that has "sugar-free" sweetners in it, or is that just the same as sugar?

Then again, I also eat sugar-filled things too. I'm not the greatest diabetic in the world... And beware the sugar-free chocolates! It tastes fine, but it will give you the sheeeeeits something fierce.

Coke 0 for instance, for me, is a 'free drink'. It's like drinking water basically, has no sugar or carbs to raise my bg (blood glucose). Some things say they are diet, but are not sugar free. Diet Orange Crush is a good example, it says diet, but has 6 cabs per serving, so that's almost 18 carbs for a bottle, depending on my levels and or what else I'm eating that means I'm taking an insulin shot. It will be helpful once you know if you are type 1 or 2. With type 2 diet and a few lifestyle changes and you get to live pretty normally. Type 1, sigh, welcome to extra doctor visits, getting an Endochronologist, raised insurance rates, 6 to 10 injections a day, about $200 a month in supplys/meds and more. As said, I hope things work out for you.

As said, I hope things work out for you. For example, Splenda is actually derived from Sucrose. However, its done in a way that your body cannot metabolize it into glucose to raise your blood sugar. Most 'artificial' sweeteners are made the same way - altering disacharroses so they cannot be digested into monosacharosses (glucose mainly) to raise your blood sugar. There's still a few that can be, though in lower amounts than regular sugars. Your best bet is to read the ingredients and nutritional information on the back to double check. (I'll save the sucrose biochemistry lecture unless your feeling nerdy) |

What Black Lama says is probably the most direct lifestyle advice. It really depends on what supplement they're using in place of sugar to make it "sugar free".
