Got my Chinese pre release Zartan today. He's pretty nice.
If he didn't come with the bird, no one would be thinking "Raptor" for him. I think the bird just went along with the desert/Persian thing he's got going on. The arms with their lace up straps and stuff are really nice, the figure is nice over all. Love the satchel pack that he comes with for the 'joe' side. Hope to see that in green later. The vest is nice too. Alot of detail there including lace up lumbar sections and such. Nice rifle, and yeah the spare head has Lowlight all over him. The goggles are in the wrong color but the head is perfect ((Other than being 'dirty'. Not sure if that's on purpose as he's a desert trooper or if it's just dirty because it's a non packaged pre-release. The Machete is clearly ment to be a Gerber but mine looks a little...rough? Maybe the mold wasn't the best or something, it appears "Well used', wich fits the figure, but one wonders why they'd make that a standard. Again. not sure if it's on purpose to have a oldy looking well used peice of equipment or if it's just not polished for final release. Over all it's a great fig. The arms are quite good. Little note I don't think people have pointed out yet. The "Wrist" articulation is under the wrist straps, so about half way up the forarms, but they're UNDER the wrist straps so you don't get that split forarm look from some of the first 25ths. The hands hold the weapons well, and other than birdy being 'perched' instead of inflight. the equipment is good. Not sure exactly what you're supposed to do with the bird like that. I mean I gess you could sit him on peoples faces after you shot them, but with his wings folded, there's not a ton of play value there. Just standing there holding the staff and his rifle though, Zartan looks good. I'd give it a 9 out of 10. It's a nice figure. Nice gear. very useable. If the bird's wings were out so you could at least play it as swooping down to rip people's eyes out, and if the machette was a bit 'crisper' it'd get the full 10

Whoah. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You ought to mention the paint incident. Overcoming that to achieve the finished product makes them doubly impressive.

Thank you as always for your kind words!
I'm really happy with them, but mostly I'm glad that I don't have this project hanging over my head eating away at my type A personality. Thank you Wry1! I'm a dabbler.

Got my POC Zartan today too! Such a nice figure. The paint job is unbelievable. I think it's the first Joe ever with a sunburn. Weird, though, mine came with both machetes and no pistol. All the ones I've seen have just one machete and the pistol.

Then you know someone else is getting a 2 pistol no machete Zartan. Both sound appealing.

But there are sheaths for both machetes in the belt, one on each side. There are no holsters for pistols. I think I came out ahead.
