Got the red paint last night so the canopies are finished. Just waiting on my black paint and then the tedious task of reassembling them begins.

I have yet to locate a kamakura here yet. We have a fairly vigilant scalper presence, but i hit the walmarts at odd hours due to my work so ill keep an eye out for you. I was hoping the elite vipers would ring at $1 but no dice. It was nice to round out my neoviper army though, and i scored a few random figures i wouldn't have bought at normal price (Charbroil, Night Adder, Arctic Stormshadow..im lookin at you!).

Yeah, never seen a whitecoat rex or kamakura in the wild. But the CS Snake Eyes wave is just starting to trickle in here, so in a few weeks they might crop up. Part of the great thing about having 4 superwalmarts. Agreed on TRU though, stock here is like a billion snow serpents and some destros and benchpresses. I need to score a couple of Benchpress figures but i don't know if i am willing to drop 8 bucks per just for what's basically fodder to me. Who knows, maybe a 2for10 sale will come around. The last 2for10 was restricted at our TRU to just Desert Duke and Destros. I was was pretty pissed at that, since the circular didn't specify duke and destro only, but the manager wouldn't budge and didn't feel like making a jerk of myself over some toys.

Have you considered Gesso as a primer? I use it on minis (warhammer 40k) and it works great. You can dilute it but you don't have to. I lay down a layer of Gesso, let it dry/cure. It will shrink to hug the details of your item. Then i paint it with acrylics. Very thin, multiple layers. Let it dry all the way. Once those dry, you can paint the parts in Polyshades (a floor stain/sealer 2-in-1) Use the Polyshades Satin finish, Tudor is a good color. The polyshades will fill the parts low points with the stain, which will give your figure the illusion of shadows. It also puts on a layer of acrylic on it which will seal it and protect it from paint wear. Gotta be careful around the arm joints though, so it doesn't glue up the joint and ruin articulation. Once its fully dry (about 24 hours) you can hit it with some matte spray to kill the small shine and then when that dries, reassemble the figure. If you decide to do this, give it a test run on a throw-away figure first. Oh, and the gesso makes an effective primer regardless of humidity.
I'm from Argentina, so we don't have the same products. Basically, we might have, but different names. Most of the time, the stuff is really different in composition. Good to know there's another Warhammer in here! What figs you've worked on? Pics, links? I personally prefer the Warhammer, not the 40k, but i've worked on both. I particularly love dark elves, to the point i started to customize them so no miniature looks the same. When i say customizing, i mean resculpting, cutting/glueaing etc. Once you get practice with them, customizing Joes is a walk.

Gesso is an art product, so you would look for it where ever you buy fine arts stuff, like canvas or high end brushes. the Company that makes it is called Golden. Here in the states you can buy it at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or any serious art store. A 16oz bottle runs about $15 usd. You could probably order it online from DickBlick.com or somewhere similar. As for Warhammer, i field Orcs&Gobbos in Fantasy and Tau in 40k. I don't have any army pics at the moment, or a webpresence for that matter, but i am working on it. I know what you mean when you talk about customizing your minis. I actually find the minis easier to mod in some respects due to no joints or moving parts. But the scale is wicked challenging. |

If you guys get A&E, tune in tonight at 10 for 2 back-to-bad episodes of STEVEN SEAGAL LAWMAN. I'm not even making that up.
Jefferson Parish has been Under Siege by some Hard To Kill criminal scum. Who can the citizens turn to to become their Shadow Man, The Glimmer Man, The Patriot, The Keeper? You guessed it - Steven Seagal, a man who is Out For Justice. A Dangerous Man who was Born to Raise Hell, Seagal step up to the plate and becomes the defender of Jefferson Parish, diving into The Belly Of The Beast, becoming Submerged in the gritty Fire Down Below - the seedy underworld of criminal scum. Follow the Seagal, a one-man Attack Force, as he takes a Flight Of Fury to Louisiana to help the local Sheriff's Department lay the hurt down on some crooks who think they're Above The Law. Will he bring about a new Black Dawn with his unique style of Urban Justice? Or will he find himself in over his head, Out Of Reach, On Deadly Ground? Will he drive a Machete through a criminal's Ticker, creating gruesome Exit Wounds? Or will The Foreigner be Marked For Death? Against The Dark forces which plague Jefferson County, Seagal is a Mercenary for Justice. But will he make the Executive Decision to flip the Kill Switch and end the crime spree which plagues the Dark Territory, or is he merely Out For A Kill? STEVEN SEAGAL LAWMAN will have you Pistol Whipped to your chair. Tune into A&E at 10PM, or Today You Die. Sounds Seagalicious. Think I'm making this shit up? Check out Steven Seagal Lawman - A&E TV for more details.
