I wouldn't mind an extra defender if the price is right.

Well said guys, I've been thinking along those lines for a while now as well. Just like everyone else on here, that was a big driver for me coming back to Joe, the nostalgia and childhood memories, even moreso than was the case for SW.
As for that slaughter scene, that got to me more than Prime biting the dust. It's funny, this is the third time that I remember talking about this scene in this thread, and it always seems to have left a strong mark on everyone who comments! |

I now think life basically boils down to the pursuit of sensation. One can be purely animalistic about it but even those who attempt to pursue more reputedly "noble" objectives do so because the achievement of those goals creates in them a feeling they find pleasurable, again boiling down to the pursuit of sensation as the purpose of life. Different people find different experiences enjoyable and worthwhile. I think this is a rather pagan perspective on the matter, but there's a purity in simplicity. I don't necessarily think the purpose of life is to be happy, but that's what we're all compelled to seek and it seems as natural as breathing. Embrace human nature or resist it? Or embrace it sometimes and resist it others? Yet another paradox. I'm reminded of an old sketch from "Saturday Night Live" where a person has died and in the afterlife meets his angelic caseworker who has been authorized to answer all his questions about existence and one question he asks was what was the most disgusting thing he ever ate without knowing it and the caseworker was like, you don't want to know, but the twelfth most disgusting was a cup of pudding with a dead earwig in it.

Not many people have this perspective on life. I for one, do share this sentiment. Simplicity is very underrated. My wife often asks me why I never seem stressed even though I go a million miles a minute sometimes. And I tell her I keep things simple. One of the best lessons I ever learned in school was not to over analyze things. Most things should be taken at face value. I think a wise person realizes for the most part when this is not the case. Life is about the pursuit of sensation. Some say pain lets you know you're alive. Well I say, so does happiness and/or pleasure. |
