I was going to go back to school for PTA but it's turned into such a huge run-around I don't know now. I had everything set and went to register for classes at local college, only to be told they don't offer that program (PTA)! All of that paper work and crap just for that to happen! OK, so I find out the nearest campuses that I can take the PTA program at are either a 4+ hour drive each way up to the nastiest weather wise part of Upper Michigan (Houghton/Hancock, MI at Finlandia University) or split up the classes between local college here, NWTC in either Niagra, WI (1 hour each way drive) or Marinette, WI (1 hour each way drive) and then finish the last required classes at the NWTC Green Bay, WI campus (2+ hour drive each way). So, I opted for the NWTC and drove to the Niagra campus and talked with someone there. Then I went to the Marinette campus a couple weeks later to see what I needed to do to apply and register for classes. Since I didn't take Chemistry or Biology class in high school or college before, I can't even apply to the NWTC program until I have either one of those classes (the algebra part I already have....technical trigonometry/calculus in college from '97). Then she tells me that NWTC only accepts applications once a year in September and that I can take the required class this Fall or Winter semester and then wait until next September to apply. My unemployment will run out far before next September so that's not an option. I have 2 years of schoolling paid for along with 2 more years unemployment from the TRA/TAA program but not sure what I want to go to school for now with all of this run around crap for the PTA program.

Not to mention that since I've been off since last November 14th, they redid part of the contract and made it so we won't get any back pay this time, took away our raise from earlier this year and reduced our hourly wages by $2.00! The last 3 times we've gotten laid-off, the Union sues the company for wrongfull lay-offs because the company is out sourcing our union jobs oversaes and then they lay us off because there's no jobs for us at that time. There were, but since they sent them overseas, now there isn't! That's why I have the schooling/extended unemployment too due to the loss of job to overseas market. So, usually we'd get called back to work after 6 months of being off and get a nice check (not our full wages but it usually was around $5,000 each) for that 6 months we were off because of their wrongfull lay-offs according to the contract. So now, if I get called back, I'll be making $2.00 less per hour than I was last November and won't get the raise that was promised to us in the new contract last year and no back pay check.
