I didn't HATE it, per se.
That's probably why I lost my mojo. Not enough genuine feeling to channel into verse. I didn't like it. I'm not getting the DVD. I like some of the toys. I even like the Night Raven that everyone else despises. But I will be a giddy goon when BroJob cuts their losses with ROC and re-introduces a Modern style line incorporating classic and Resolute as well as ROC-continuity characters. Trying to be optimistic. See for me my expectations were so low I think anything decent had to be good to me. LOL. I like the new Night Raven but wish it had the detachable ship! Well when this line of ROC dies (1-2 year run) it should be time for GI JOE 2 and then we will see that toy line. So think we are stuck with ROCish figures for awhile. I prefer the "classic" looks and my "real" Duke, Scarlett, etc.... But no one asked me (not that stopped my opinion lol!) 26 |

I've said it many, many times and will probably continue to do so because I love reading my own thoughts ad nauseum as much as the sound of my own voice, but I digress:
I think the ROC line would have done much better at retail, even with the price increase, if they had kept the old school card styles and packaging. Imagine the ROC character art with the classic explosion backgrounds and the silver borders of the 25th card. Switch the GIJOE logo to the movie logo with the post office emblem in the right upper corner and urethra, you have it!

The old packaging was familiar to people and they saw it and said, "hey that's G.I. Joe! I grew up on that." Now I hear people say, "That's not the GI Joe I grew up with." 24 |

I think the whole 25th style to ROC with packaging style change was a big difference and mistake. I mean you have a whole new look/feel to the character that you redesigned from the loveable 80s cartoon version to this new more real army looking guy and you top it all off by putting it in unfamiliar packaging???? REALLY???

I saw examples of that several times during the 25th/Modern run.
I remember seeing this dude with his girlfriend (who did not have a collector vibe to him) shriek something to the effect of "Holy sh*t! GIf*ckin'JOE!!!" and ran over to the Joe section and was like "these are just like the old ones!" and his girlfriend was alternately rolling her eyes and glaring at him and whining for him to come on so they could leave. I also saw a lot more people buying Joes back then. I talked to a couple of them. They weren't really collectors (yet), but they said the nostalgia packaging had got them interested 'cause it reminded them of their childhood toys.

And there are people who should have been done in this line that there is no excuse for not having a figure made of them... Lifeline and Lowlight are two examples that popped in my head right away.

Lowlight could definitely be easily incorporated into the current line.

I would be standing looking at Joes or something nearby and a guy would come by, "Oh Crap. Look at this. These are just like the Joes I had growing up. Flint, I gotta get him and oh look...." 21 -Blackjack! |

Okay and here's one.... they have made so many Leathernecks (3 I think that are out/coming) but they couldn't make one "classic" looking? I mean come on. 20 |
