My father before me also hated the heat. He had central air in our house and kept it about 66 to 68 all summer. Stepping out side it was 90-110 with about 90% humidity. I hate heat. HATE it. Hate Hate hate it. With a froathing loathing passion as bright as a million billion googleplex of suns. I moved 1101 miles NORTH from my homeland.. pretty much as far north as you can get in the US and not be in Alaska. Here, we get over 200 inches of snow a year. The houses are built around keeping heat in. So even though It rarely goes over 80 here, the houses hold in every scrap of heat. So it might be 68 out side but it'd be 80 inside. lol Normally the yoopers open the windows and the wind blows though.. BUT... I also have severe allergies. (( as noted over the past two days in the thread)) So just opening up the windows and letting the tree sperm in isn't viable as an option. So with the super thermal houses built here to retain every molecule of heat for the frigid winters (( -35 last winter)) and the 'open window's not being viable. I need AC now..... I DID get the energy star air-conditioner... But the only reason I didn't get 10,000 btu's was it was $100 more lol. So.. yes. I need that much!!!!

Ok PJ, get it now, understand why you moved there with it being much cooler there but there's no way I could take that cold of a winter. Much too cold for me up there. lol

I come from the South.. where the heat kills a couple dozen people a year. Just sittin' around doing nothing.

the UP is really nice. it only breaks 80 for maybe two weeks a year here. you can count 90 degree days on one hand with fingers left over. The breeze from both the great lakes.. it's actually REALLY nice. But yeah the houses hold in all the heat so after about... April or May, it's usually hotter IN the house than outside. So we put a window unit in the living room and one in the bed room. The one I 'had' in the bed room was like 30 year old hand me down from the wife's parents. This year I saved money from the tax return and got my new bed room airconditioner today. Coupled with the new Kingsize bed and .. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm going to sleep so so well.

Right, so I just bought Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (Manchester United nil) off of XBLA.
It's pretty darned fun. Easier than the other numbered STH games, and hey, spin attack. Looks a bit ugly on a Standard Def TV though.
