Ren, really sorry to hear about your Dad passing. I knew things were going rough for you, and I noticed your absence around here lately.
I know it's not much, but you and your family are in my thoughts for better days ahead. |

I dunno..the green is more modern and blends in better but the red will definetly harken back to the original...which you are already doing..I dunno man

welp.. time for me to get on the work trail. Catch you all later.
Let me know what you guys think on that costume.. do I paint the epaulets red with the gold and silver insignia, or do I leave them green as they are on the shoulders. JettFire is right. no word can discribe the way it feels to loose someone so close. yet we are all here if you need anything , Ren. Yo Joe!

I had thought about this too bud. I would like to go with the red. but I`ll have the red Spec force arrow and dagger on my beret for that reason. but the shoulders are what stand to me. If I play airsoft using this shirt.. it`s gonna stand out, but the green might not .. least not near as much. we`ll have to see since I will have red and black shotgun shells with gold/brass caps... guess the red would also blend that too. I`ll take a picture after st. Patties day and it`ll have the full gear(just not the belt buckle. . (Still waiting on the beret patch too)

for hostile boarding teams back in my day it'd be 5-6 men team. The guy with the shotgun would be right behind the guy in front with the flash light and 9mm up at eye level, very easy to sweep corners and hallways. Everyone had a radio that was tied in with the boats. Only other special weapon we carried was 1-2 M-16s, or M-4s depending. And we all had night vision goggles on our person. Everyone had a 9mm and there'd usually be 3 of us with just that. One of us would usually carry a tool bag with hammers, picks, med gear etc. Hope that helps
Yo Joe! Glad to see you back. Quote:
Hey Ren! thanks WXC. cost me $25 for that buckle but I`m gonna give a twist to it. going to put it on a tan pistol web belt for the suspenders. but since most of the style are adjustable. it will be hand sewen to the web gear and will be a perm addition to the gear.
Oh! the epaulets came in but their green with the WO1 . but I`m thinking of repainting the dress green with the traditional red, which is on Flints gear. good idea or leave it original? The enlisted buckle showed up for the pants. That buckle is old but awesome! cleaned up fairly well from being so damned old. I`ll eat then take pictures for you guys. this costume is almost there! I would go with red Shipwreck, especially if you are using red shotgun shells and will have the red pin on the beret. If you are going to use a color like that you want it in groups of 3 usually in a triangle pattern on the subject, we miniature painters call it spot coloring. That way everythings even and not random.

Haha! Of course, that's a classic Ren response right there.
Not much here though, just trying to get through the work day. |
