I wonder why they havent prefected airplane paint, they've been trying since the first world war to make them invisible from the ground but we have F-22s with their ( f-18? Im assuming??) escorts flying over once a week and they are as plane as day up there...wtf

It's also a problem of design; look at an F-22 from head on. Not a lot there. Now look at it from below. Big target. When pinged from the frontal/rear aspect, the plane has a Radar Cross-section smaller than a goose. But from below, that's a big ol' right angle to bounce radio waves off of. That's something that can't really be helped, but then again, the idea is to knock out the radar stations BEFORE they get a chance to look up your skirt, so to speak. And where are you? Only place I know of that would have both Raptors and Bugs are Newport News/Norfolk and maybe Kadena and one of the bases out in the pacific.

maybe? I guess it doesnt matter if we humans can see it. Its really eerie seeing the Raptor flying around with one F-18 as a wingman, I dont understand the whys or whats, anytime I see the Raptor for that matter I feel like im seeing something I shouldnt.

It's pretty much impossible to make a plane completely undetectable. Even if they were to invent optical camouflage, the heat given off by having it active would be way to easy to pick up, not to mention "invisible" and "intangible" are in no way synonymous; radar is still going to bounce off of the hull of the plane, because even if you can't see it, it's still there, it's still a solid object. That's why a lot of aircraft (at least American aircraft) are two-tone grey; the paint is actually mixed with radar absorbent materials to decrease the amount of radio waves bounced off of the bird.

Then the Raptor is doing its job. Part of the big emphasis on stealth technology is the psychological factor; compared to other aircraft, there is something distinctively inhuman about the B-2, F-117, and Raptor. Typical logic dictates that these things shouldn't be doing that, that they're so foreign that they simply shouldn't exist. It may not always work, but once you see a stealth bird come flying at you, and you just... can't... lock... on... You're helpless.

Ah. That explains it then. Remember seeing the first production Raptors fly out of the Marietta facility in 03-04 when my dad was out there on business. Fantastic sight. Does seem odd for the Raptor and Bug to be flying together, but then again, it's a very good combination.

My current objective is not so much to PACK stuff, but to THROW stuff away and pack what I don't need or want.
I sent TONS of crap over to my ex's house...more to go soon I am also hoping to get into the basement and bag up stuff to drop off at goodwill. I will probably do that tomorrow when I have my 14 year old around to help |
