Attention Players! I would like to speak for a moment about something that is very important. I have always thought this way, for me this is nothing new. However, because of recent events, the time has now come to clarify this issue:
Players changing teams/ Moving to other teams. I remember back when I was a kid, I used to go outside and play G.I. Joe with my friends. The first order of business was to pick your characters, choose your sides: "I want to be Zartan!", "I call Stormshadow!", "I call Flint!", "I'll be Beachhead!". Then...later that day, or the next day, we would be out there again, "Well, I was Zartan yesterday, so today I want to be a good guy, I'll be Stalker!" This is how kids think. This is why kids are so fu@king awesome. As kids, we all naturally understood that we are all friends playing a game, and that it didn't really matter if you play as a good guy or bad guy. It was about what made you feel "Cool" at that moment. Sure, there was that one kid who always played as Shipwreck, and refused to play as any other character (Looking at you Delgado), but that was his choice, it wasn't something that was forced upon him. It was a free and easy system. One day your Firefly, the next your Barbecue. So, here we are now as adults, playing a G.I. Joe game. Yes, we obviously do this for fun, otherwise we wouldn't play. However, there is also a certain level of competitiveness, which I think is a good thing. It feels great to win, especially against another team that is trying equally hard to win. That competition, that drive to win, forces us to play better and become stronger. Anytime you are part of a team, working with others to achieve the same goal, feelings of unity and camaraderie will inevitably grow. This sense of brotherhood is part of our drive to win, because it's no longer just about you, now its also about not letting down your brothers and sisters. I get that. The negative side to this, is that these feelings of team brotherhood often compel our decisions. I know that MANY of you would love to change teams now and then and bounce around, but you don't because 1: You feel a sense of obligation to your friends. 2: You fear that your teammates will feel betrayed and resent you. 3: You worry that the new team will not truly accept you as a brother because you came from "X" team. Back when I was a member of the Joe team, I thought it would be fun to play 1 game with Cobra, but I didn't. For all of the above reasons, but mainly because I felt that I would be letting down my Nightforce guys. When I first joined the game, choosing whether to join Joe or Cobra was a very tough decision. Why was this a tough choice? Because I knew in my gut, that whichever team I chose, the other team would probably hate me. If I chose Cobra, the Joes would hate me, if I chose the Joes, Cobra would hate me. I remember thinking even back then, "It shouldn't be this way". If I want to play for the Joes for a few games, then try my hand at being a Cobra for a few games, why not? What's the big deal anyway, this is a game right? We should be free to play as a good guy or a bad guy, Joe, Cobra, IG, whenever we feel like it, without the fear of being ostracized. I've seen this happen so many times, even recently; A player who has been a loyal and die hard member of your team, decides that he or she wants to try something new. All of the sudden it's "Traitor", "Backstabber", "Defector". So, let me get this straight, this guy has fought by your side for several months or even a year, and now that he/she wants to change teams for a few games, you immediately turn your back on him and cast him away. How quickly we turn our backs on those who have been our friends and teammates. Who is the real traitor here, the guy who wants to try something new, or his former teammates who now insult him? Changing teams, whether its for just one game, a few games, or forever, does not change the fact that this man or woman has fought for you. It does not take away all of the time and effort that this person has put into the team. If you call yourself a true friend, if you call yourself a true teammate, then you would say, "Hey, good luck over there bro, have fun! We are here for you whenever you decide to come back, because we have not forgotten everything that you have done for this team, and we still respect you and care for you as friend." There are a few who are against players changing teams. I understand your feelings, but, ultimately its not your decision. You cannot control what people choose to do with their time, you can only control how you react to it. I'm tired of the "Traitor" garbage. It's been old for a long time now. It's petty and it's mean spirited. I do not want to see any more of this in any of the team threads. I am quite serious about this, and I will leave it at that. This goes for all teams. I thank you for your time. I understand what you're trying to say here. I get it. But that being said I don't fully agree. I don't see it as the team 'turning their back on their -former- teammate. I think many on the teams DO see it as a sense of TEAM and we play to -win-. We are here to have fun, but it ingenders a sense of betrayal. When the guy that was in the fox hole with you, gets up, and tries to shoot YOU, it is a sense of betrayal and they do feel like turncoats and traitors. As you stated noone forced them to join the team. When they jump ship and start trying to make you lose, they're in comititon with you for the win. We do play for fun, but we also play to win. Compound this when people jump ship for the 'current winning team' or because your team has been losing lately and that makes it worse. "Oh well we're not winning so I'm gong to join the winning team and make you lose worse so I can get a win" I think the feelings are perfectly fair and Valid. That being said I don't talk alot of smack on here. I might need "that guy" to hook me up with a hard to find figure at some point. (( Thanks be to all those that have helped me in the past!)) But I totally get the sense of betrayal. When somone that fought with you is then trying to kill you and make you lose the game.. yeah it sucks. Talking smack is kinda jerky but... noone made you jump teams. You sign up for a team, help us out and then leave, it's kinda on you for doing so. You shouldn't expect cheers that you're going to try and beat those you fought with. You kinda should expect the jerkyness. No one that I've seen (( and I only hang out in the Joe thread)) has gotten out of hand with it.. but if you turn traitor on your team and someone calls you one. You shouldn't cry. I've never understood people that get upset when that sort of things happens. If I catch someone lieing to me and I call them a Liar, it's not really 'nice' but it's accurate. They can't really get mad at me for calling them a liar if they are.. If you turn traitor on your team and are then trying to kill your former teammates, don't whine about them being sour about it and calling you a traitor, if that's what you did. I don't do it. Like I said I don't like to burn bridges. I'm in ann area of the country that gets jack shit for figures or vechiles and a NUMBER of really stand up guys on hisstank have really helped me out in the past.. But for those that want to do it.... let um do it. Yeah switching teams is an 'option' but look at the NFL. look at the utter load of HATE that Bret Farve got when he did what he did. He played on GB for years and years then.. .he switched teams and Green Bay felt betrayed. They LOOOOOOTHE Him now.. He got death threats. LOTS of them. Look at NFL or NCAA team rivalry's. That's part of the fun too. If the Joe's are ragging on the IG's or the IG's on the Cobra or the Cobra on the Joes.. it's part of that team rivalry's.. and yes.. if you switch teams, expect some of those bad feelings. It's ALSO part of the game. If there's --no-- loyalty and anyone can be on any team at any time.. it destroys that team comrodery. It destroys that esprit de corps. It lessons the game to 'not mattering who wins or loses because we're all on all teams at all times' If you can switch teams with out any reprecussions what so ever, then you don't have a ----team----- you're a mercenary. It might be how some people have fun in the game. It's not in the spirit of the game though. I play to win. I'm on here late at night every night of the game, not just for me.. but LARGELy.. because of my TEAM. The Joes count on me. Every night. Never fail to be there with my shield. And I'm there for them. How do they know? Because I'm a joe and I'm THERE For my boys. Leave no man behind. We all go home or none of us do. LOYALTY to friends. You kick that in the teeth and get called a few names? Suck it up.

That's an understatement, but yes we will and can win. We will need to pull together and work as a team to do it and not give up.

It seems like like every other time so I pop in here someone leaving again:(
But what are you going do? I feel like met some cool cats here (pun intended) as being a newbie here I never had to deal with people announcing that they are leaving unless it was for personal reasons. Most of the time when people leave they just fade away... I talk too much sometimes.
