IIRC, a SPARTAN Augment is roughly 6.8-7.5 feet tall, not 8-10ft.
This means the HALO figures are NOT to scale with Joes.. |

Naw. The Spartans were taken young. 6-11 or so years of age. The doctor in charge looked for naturally gifted kids. Kids that in other times would have been Alexander the great, or Leonitus. Or Ghengus Khan. Physically superior with genius IQ's and aggression.
The thing people kinda fail to see is that they wern't just looking on earth, where.. one or two of these are born a generation. They had dozens of worlds and scoured them ALL for these kids. They got... I think about 60 to 90 kids that fit these. Stole um. As in. "SNATCH" and replaced with flash clones that died pretty quick. The kids were effectivly drafted and trained from that earily age to be modern day Spartans. A life of nothing but military training with unit cohesion and loyalty bred in. in their mid teens they were subjected to horrendus levels of medical treatment. think.. what happened to Wolverine.... squared. Steroid injections. bone lacing with metal. Genetic manipulation that caused a 'secondary growth spurt. I.E. a secondary puberty. Remember when you were about 11 then between 11 and 17 or so you got about another third in your height? The spartans had ANOTHER one of those. Super charged by the genetic, chemical, mechanical process. All of it done at once. The bones actually had to be laced with metal to stand up to how strong the muscles became. ect. ect ect. If Im not mistaken... 50 to 60% of the kids died from that alone. Another 10 or 20% in training. hell before all that happened they killed trainers in training. lol but yes at the end of it the average spartan is 8 to 10 feet tall OUT of their armor. The armor just adds to their already super human nature. in one of the books a group of 5 ODSTs (( Orbital Drop Ship Troopers. What we'd concider the best of the best. Navy Seal/ SAS types)) Went after one Spartan in a gym. he was unarmed and had to restrain himself and even then he put all of them in the med bay I think one or two died? In the end only 30 Spartan IIs graduated. (( I think)) and the cost was astronomical. One guy said each Spartan cost as much as a battle group. lol That's why they made the Spartan III program. not as big, not as bad, not as expensive.

*Double checks* kay, what I can find in a quick online look says 7 to 8. *nods* The novels is where I got the 8 to 10.
at 7 foot, if Duke came up to Carter's shoulder, and assuming a head is about a foot.. it's about right. Edit: Thing is. Carter is a Spartan III. not a Spartan II. So the original spartans would/should be a bit bigger.

I appreciate the all the history on the HALO .
I 've been trying to learn about it all and "catch up" the last 2 weeks since I started collecting them and have been doing a lot of reading . Almost finished with HALO Cryptum.

Per IGN's write up on Noble Team:
Carter-259 Rank: Commander Service #: S-259 Height: 6 feet, 10 inches Weight: 249.5 pounds Born: 8/27/2520 Birthplace: Durban, Biko Carter is the leader of Noble Team and is one of the two surviving original team members along with Kat. Carter's seen many battles in his day and has suffered through more loss than any human should. His main concern in Reach is keeping his team alive and bringing them home safe. Let's just hope that doesn't translate into a sacrificial moment where Carter meets his doom to save the rest of the Spartans on Noble Team. Kat-320 Rank: Lieutenant Commander Service #: S-320 Height: 6 feet, 9 inches Weight: 214.5 pounds Born: 1/30/2530 Birthplace: Monastir, New Harmony Destroyed limbs don't keep a Spartan III down, as is evidenced by Kat's fully-functional prosthetic right arm. As one of the two remaining members of the original Noble Team (and currently second in command behind Carter), the deaths of her former squad mates weigh heavily on Kat's mind. Couple that with her knack for decrypting classified information that UNSC typically keeps out of the hands of those entering the battlefield and Kat could prove to be one of the more volatile members of Noble Team as Reach progresses. Emile-239 Rank: Warrant Officer Service #: S-239 Height: 6 feet, 10 inches Weight: 234.3 pounds Born: 3/11/2523 Birthplace: Luxor, Eridanus II If the skull painted on his helmet and the knife he wears on his right shoulder weren't big enough clues, Emile is a bad mother who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. Plus, that awesomely intimidating knife is perfect for Reach's new assassination system. The fact that he hails from the same colony as the one and only Master Chief should be a testament to his killing proficiency. Don't be offended if Emile doesn't congratulate you on your performance in the field as the guy doesn't speak a word. Jun-266 Rank: Warrant Officer Service #: S-266 Height: 6 feet, 11 inches Weight: 244.4 pounds Born: 2/28/2524 Birthplace: Tyumen, New Harmony Jun has seen battle for upwards of 15 years and he's fought against both human and Covenant forces. The years of battle have left Jun mentally scarred, so heavily relying on him in the battlefield might lead to trouble. Still, with Jun's incredible accuracy with the UNSC's sniper rifle, there's no doubt that he'll be a worthy support member for the rest of Noble Team. Couple this guy with a cloaking ability and some dense foliage and the battlefield will be cleared of enemy forces before long. Jorge-052 Rank: Chief Warrant Officer Service #: S-052 Height: 7 feet, 4 inches Weight: 319.4 pounds Born: 3/5/2511 Birthplace: Palhaza, Reach It should be no surprise, when looking at Jorge, that he's the bruiser of Noble Team. His huge chain gun brings the pain to huge masses of enemies and has been doing so for more than 30 years. He's the only Spartan II on Noble Team, which means he's not only the costliest member of the squad in the eyes of the UNSC, but he's also the deadliest. He wears the familiar MJOLNIR armor that was worn by Master Chief, but with a few enhancements outside of the inner shell. Jorge is the sole native to the planet Reach on Noble Team, which means the events of the game carry a particular weight in the eyes of this juggernaut. Noble 6 Rank: Lieutenant Service #: S-312 Height: Unknown Weight: Unknown Born: 1/30/2530 Birthplace: Unknown With origins shrouded in mystery, it's fitting that players will assume the role of Noble 6 in Halo: Reach. You'll have the option to be either a male or female version of the new hero, though don't expect for any long monologues as Noble 6 adheres to the relatively quiet demeanor that we're used to seeing from Halo heroes. Little else is known about Noble 6 beyond the fact that he or she is one of the most skilled warriors that Bungie's universe has ever known. Oh, and if you think there's no connection between Noble 6 and Master Chief, you're kidding yourself |

Here ya go Black Swan.
Amazon.com: Halo, Books 1-3 (The Flood; First Strike; The Fall of Reach) (9780345473042): Eric Nylund, William C. Dietz: Books These three come in a box set and will get the 'back story' for you caught up pretty well. When they actually cover the parts that are 'played' in the game.. they read about like.. someone playing the game and writing it down, but the other parts, the back story and all, is very good. "The Fall of Reach" especially. Just don't be confused. it's not about Halo Reach (( noble team)) it's about the Master Chief and his training and stuff. Those three take you up to.. either just before or just after halo 2

*nods to AA* Close to what I found. Give or take a few inches and pounds.
But those are Spartan IIIs. They're the... well... "Fast and cheep' sort of devalues what they are.. but they're not near the same level oas the Spartan IIs. even as awesoem as they are. Which is complicated a bit by the fact the master cheif is like 6'10" or 7 foot in armor.

I have thought about starting up a Halo figure collection, but have never pulled the trigger. I like the look of the Reach figures, but not so much the H3 or ODST figures...
