| I'm not going to do the whole weekend, but I'm thinking of making the trip for Saturday. Does anyone know if the one-day "general admission" will get me access to the Hasbro discussion panel?
Also, C.I.A.D.'s description of Atlanta is 100% accurate. I don't know if it's the easiest place to get lost, but compared to NYC, it's a nightmare. I learned to drive in Manhattan myself, so I get really frustrated when surrounded by people who aren't capable of operating their vehicles properly. The worst traffic in the eastern half of the U.S. is in DC, because of all the people from surrounding areas working in that tiny little city. Atlanta, however, is the worst place to drive on this side of the country. It has a metro area population of about 4 million, which isn't that bad, but 3.85 million of them just cannot drive. Coming down I-85, you have someone going 48 in a 55 MPH zone in the far left lane, and someone going 105 in the far right lane.
Atlanta is about four hours south of me, and I've made the trip probably thirty times in the last ten years. Of all those trips, I have never once made it home without seeing a traffic accident so bad that it resulted in either a fatality or someone at least being hauled off in an ambulance. If you go, be mindful of the locals on the highways.
As for what there is to do, Atlanta is very diverse, so there's a wonderful selection of restaurants. There are a few attractions (one of the nation's largest aquariums; not my thing, but it's popular), a decent nightlife, and the CNN Center is a neat experience. |
