Yeah. The Target by my house even had the Joe vehicles temp markdown to $12.99 while WM's price went up to $16.99. I've said it before, if groceries at WM weren't so cheap, I would never shop there.

Walmart has such a great advertising campaign that they have the entire country fooled into thinkin the prices there are automatically lower than anywhere else, which simply is not true. Yeah they do have some great deals, but a lot of their stuff is inferior quality, especially their clothes. And you can still sometimes get better prices at Kmart, Target and others. Walmart perpetuates the illusion that they are cheap and want to give folks a good deal and help them out, but they are bloodthirsty and more profit driven than a lot of companies. They treat their employees like crap and purposefully hire the type of people who will not complain or make waves. I saw a program a few years ago about how they trick folks into thinking all their prices are incredibly lower than anyone else. They do it by putting lower end merchandise for very low prices in their center aisles. For example a small low power microwave for say $29. Now everyone sees it but nearly everyone passes on it because it smaal with low power output and goes to the actually counter with the other microwaves. That $29 dollar price was so sharp tha the others must be great deals as well right? Like the nice one you really want for $59. Right? Not really. A little shopping around reveals the same microwave for lower at other places, but few people shop around. They automatically assume the price is best at Walmart. I expeienced this first hand when I used to work for Kmart. We had plenty of stuff that was less than Walmarts, but everyone still went to Walmart. There is no one retailer that has the lowest price on everything.

Yeah, last year they had the excuse that gas prices were causing everything to rise... unless its the decline of the value of the dollar I guess its just greed.

2 wal-marts in my area were raided for hiring an unspecified amount of illegal immigrants for an "unspecified" wage decrease. Obviously, below minimum.
The corporation was fined. Which they just eat the cost of, and get slapped with a warning. Now I know why during those times I couldn't find anyone working there that spoke English. |
