Artistic interpertaion aside, Zartan is supposed to be wearing a hood. Whether the artist(s) knew that or even cared is irrelevant. The cartoon gives enough evidence to support either argument.
The cartoon was essentially a 22 minute commercial for the Hasbro figures. That said, the figure has a hood on and based upon that I go with hood in the cartoon. And in every other incarnation he had bore a hood...well, aside from the crappy orange ninja force mowhawk, but I digress. Those who believe he has hair, then think he has hair. You grew up thinking that, you thought that when you saw the Sunbow toon as a young adult or as an adult and choose to continue to believe that then fine. You're entitled to your opinion regardless of how good an argument fans here can give against it. Maybe you choose hair because you prefer hair to a hood and find a hood to be ridiculous. Or maybe you're just bullheaded and will never change your mind no matter what. I feel that if the cartoon was based on a toy line and the toy line produced a hooded figure known to the world as Zartan, then I think the cartoon character known as Zartan is hooded. Hell, the color is even the same to that of the figure. But, I suppose that is just conjecture on my part and nothing solid... This is, after all, an open forum for opinions. A conundrum lost to the ages I suppose.

Can't believe this is even open for debate. It's a hood.

This thread is funny. I'm almost convinced that the people in this thread who are claiming that Zartan's hood was supposed to be hair in the cartoon are doing so simply to be oppositional. IMHO, any scene(s) you find in the cartoon where the hood is incorrectly drawn to represent hair is simply an animation error. Nothing more. These types of animation errors happened all the time in older cartoons (see Transformers for tons of reference).

IMO, anyone insisting it's a hood in the cartoon are just being stubborn because they know what it SHOULD be, although it's clearly not. |
