this is true. it would be a waste of money and resources for some hi-tech theft prevention.. either we would be punished by hiked prices or loss of freedom if that technology were available to be used against us in other ways, by other more unscrupulous companies.

what is Hasbro going to say? we don't like it. we wish you idiots would just buy our products and not steal them. this is a problem with collectors, not Hasbro's problem. no matter how they changed the packaging, people would still swap them out and retailers will still be too stupid or indifferent to stop it.
we've seen single carded figures opened, replaced with other figures, and returned, so it isn't an issue of visibility, it isn't an issue of how the product are sealed, it is an issue that is out of Hasbro's hands. it is an issue of collectors and retail associates with the intelligence levels of ants. so, why would Hasbro need to worry about this issue, never-the-less publicly address it? |

The best anti-repacker defense is the window packaging. Which people complained about on the vehicles, they wanted the old boxart style, and now we no longer have window boxes.

Unfortunately Hasbro is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation on things like this. They're releasing the PP conquest with an army builder thereby increasing the likelihood that we'll see repacked vipers in those jets. Of course, if they had released the PP viper on a single card, the same thieves who repack would likely just rip it figure off the card. So at least Hasbro is making it a little more tedious for thieves to steal. |

And that solves it quite neatly since specialty shops rarely take returns, or the person behind the counter is in the know and would spot a repack in a millisecond.

No matter what Hasbro does there is someone out there who will find a way to circumvent anti theft packaging. The problem lies in the stores. And it's not just the associates being lazy. The big box retailers don't look at sales figures in hundreds or thousands but in millions. When I worked for Kmart the service desk returned all kinds of ridiculous crap just so as not to have to deal with some jerk yelling at the front counter. If the customer has a receipt the company says give em their money back. If you are waiting for service desk associates to "get educated" about the products and what should be in the packaging consider a few things. How many toy items are there in a toy department? 100s and 100s. How many different items in the store? 1000s. No one will ever gain enough knowledge to learn all the products and what goes with them. Now, since we have pics of most stuff on the box, shouldn't they check? Yep. But, consider this. It's a busy day at the service counter. There are nine customers waiting in line. Guy #1 is being a total ass about something. Lady #2 has a screaming kid. Guy #3 is bitching about how long it's taking to get service. Your manager is paging you and wants you do get three things accomplished before you go home. Each will take 1/2 hour to do properly and you leave in 45 mins. Guy #4 out of a line of now seven custs gets his turn and hands you a SEALED package and his receipt and says. "My kid got two of these for his birthday. I just wanna return this one." What do think is gonna happen. The biggest problem is that the retail co require to much of their employees. Employees in retail stores are stretched and are too overworked.

yes but speciality shops are not that common in all areas meaning we would have to drive way out of our way to spend 6 dollars more on a figure. i dont think its a huge enough issue for hasbro to deal with it, i rarely if ever see repacking out here. it may just be isolated in certain markets

What specialty shops? Do you wanna pay 12.00 for Joes at a comic store? The toy stores are all closing. KB is gone. There are no specialty shops.
