I just saw this news over at our sister site TFW2500.com
It appears that there will be a new Transformers Animated character named Mainframe. I wonder if Hasbro just acquired the rights to the name once again? I also wonder if they can use this name for multiple characters across different toy lines, or if it is just resereved for only one character in one toy line? I know many of your were thrilled to receive a Mainframe G.I. Joe migure for this modern line, but were upset with the fact that he was named Dataframe. This is the same with Shockwave being named Shockblast. I thought that Hasbro acquired the name Shockwave once again because they used it for Transformers Animated Shockwave. Remember when he was renamed Shockblast as well during the Transformers Energon line? I haven't read it yet, but here is the link to the story... Mainframe Animation Model revealed! - TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards Here is a link to Mainframe's profile at Tansformers Wiki... Mainframe (Animated - Transformers Wiki) Does anyone know if Hasbro is required to only use these names strictly for one character at a time? I would love to see Dataframe as Mainframe and Shockblast as Shockwave once again in our Joe universe.

Well in Transformers 1 they used the name Col. Sharp. Said character obviously was never made into a figure (I am hoping sometime they will make him).
However, this proves that they are willing to use other characters into the opposing universe.

Did they lose Voltar? I see there is a new Cartoon Network Cartoon League of Super Evil and the main character is Voltar. He doesn't get talked about much but he had a fairly Major part of the Marvel run so I was hoping for an updated figure eventually.

Anyway, I seem to recall reading in someone's Q and A at some point that they are trying not to use characters with the same name in different toy lines anymore (even if they originally had it). |

Hey all, not sure if this has been posted, but I find it quite crappy ... apperantly we are going to see a Mainframe character from Hasbro after all, but it's not what you think ... follow this link ... New Animated Character Mainframe Revealed Transformers ... nothing like a piss off, they rename a character from Joe because they lost the right to the name, but now they suddenly have those rights for a Transformers characters, also from Hasbro ... looks like someone dropped the ball on this one.
