No, the premise of resolute was for us! So to change the plan would piss me off to no end! I am happy with IDWs comics and to see an animated version "grow up" too, would completely supress the rage I feel over the movie!

Since Resolute was said to be a test for the adult market for Hasbro properties in adult-geared animation, I would have to say I would be against any change.
They can make a more "kid friendly" separate animated series that airs on television after the movie if they like (as they did with Transformers), while making direct to video features for adults, much like what DC & Marvel are doing. That way everyone wins. They promised us Resolute, it's almost finished, they should give us exactly what they promised, & a new Resolute faeture release for the next 5 years. It seemed like a great marketing strategy for adults that would satisfy everyone, especially those who love great adult-oriented animation or simply those who would not care for the TROC movie. You can have the best of all these things, & all of them can be a success. I'm sure Resolute will come out just as promised, but as with most DTV features (like Watchmen) right around the hype of the TROC movie release for most exposure & $ potential. |

While I am pining for something GIJoe that is familiar to me, I don't want Resolute dumbed down in any way. The main draw for the series is Warren Ellis, and I can't see any of his work being dumbed down. I've followed him for ten years, and there's no way I think he can or should be dumbed down.
I'd definitely take a dumbed down gijoe cartoon right now, just not resolute. |

I remember the VC were fond of using kids too, so I can easily believe it in Iraq.
Thing is, though, that no matter how much TV kids watch, they learn far more of their behavior from what their parents show them. You can tell them to never lie, but if they see you do it to someone else, no matter how justified, they'll get a different message. If they see you smoke and drink, guess what they're more likely to do before they're legally old enough? What good is standards and practices to go after Janet Jackson's saggy boob if a parent starts screaming the F-word every time their fav team chokes a play (and given the Eagles of late, most houses in in my area sound like sailor bars). Believe me, I grew up watching Predator and Commando, and I think I can safely say that my many issues today have less to do with Cali's current gov than being woken up every day by my parents' violent screaming battles, or watchingmy sister (who herself despises violent movies) going after my dad with a knife. Mind you, I have no idea what kind of parent you are, or what unconscious signals you send. I'm only saying that parents greatly overestimate the effect of what they or the TV says compared to what they actually do. |

Yes Resolute is part of the brand and obviously it's captured the collectors' attention and yes Hasbro is a business and out to make money. Your line of thinking seems to imply that it is better to market something softer than Resolute for the sake of growing the brand. In my line of thinking, that is what Rise of Cobra will do. |

A dumbed down Resolute would be the letdown of the 21st century! At least for all us longtime GI JOE Fans.
But I would probably still watch it though. I'm a sucker for animated GI JOE.
