it is G.I. Joe, can it really get any dumber? I say that with the utmost affection for G.I. Joe, but one of the things I enjoy about it is how ludicrous it is. heck, one of my favorite characters of all time is Big Lob.
A mature G.I. Joe cartoon is one I view that "grew" with us, something that appeals to adults without being childish. Resolute might be the cartoon that goes without the ludicrousness and goes for a more mature angle. |

I also voted yes for the reasons many have pointed out already.
1. The Joe line cannot sustain itself with only adult collectors and original toys. It's not all about us, boys and girls. Sorry to burst your bubbles. Have some kids and that will become quite obvious to you. 2. The poll was obviously biased and that always makes me chose the "non-preferred" option. Sorry, just telling it like it is. 3. I would like to be able to watch Joe with my kids, so I would accept a "dumbed down" version if that is what it took to make it happen. I'd much rather they made a second animated series for kids, but if reorganizing resolute for a wider audience was the only way that would happen, I'd accept it. 4. Not all that much "dumbing down" would be necessary. Just a few steps below Grand Theft Auto would probably suffice to get my wife to allow my kids to join me. We're not talking Sponge Bob here. There is a medium somewhere, as many have asked for. 5. Oh, and to those using this poll to bash the Joe movie - It's old already and just makes you look stupid. 'Nuff said. a perfect post, Thunderdan. i agree 110%. |

On a side note, at this time, I do not care what the do. Hasbro has shown they are unpredictable and therefore I will only worry about something when it is actually released. THEN i will worry about how it looks, or if I can find it.
I'm getting tired of debating on stuff that doesn't even come to fruition. |

What the OP seems to fail to comprehend in the initial obviously biased post is by marketing it to collectors, those who are already fans, already purchasing the toys... you're not growing the brand.
This brand cannot survive on collector's alone. That is a proven fact time and time again. The fanbase isn't large enough to support it. Quote:
Maybe it's time the OP and those who share similar views finally realize it's not only about them, it's about the brand. There's a larger world out there, it's nice to see many can see that, including those who manage the brand.

they got the dumb right, I just fear they forgot the fun. Quote:
Look at it this way, Resolute was hyped as being a mature G.I. Joe cartoon. Now what if, everything that was going to make it mature, was taken out? That's the scenario I am looking at. To me, mature tones don't necessarily mean a cartoon version of Commando that starred the governator and had over the top violence(have you guys seen the uncut version?).
A mature G.I. Joe cartoon is one I view that "grew" with us, something that appeals to adults without being childish. Resolute might be the cartoon that goes without the ludicrousness and goes for a more mature angle. |

i have said it before on many different forums. this new cartoon, as much as we will enjoy it, will not last and will not have the impact that the old cartoon had. 20plus years later and i still watch them a few times a week. actually just got done. and with it as it will be, kids will not get into it as much, thus it will not last.

The larger part of me says "NO", but as many people have stated at this point I'll take anything. Well, not ANYTHING....Sigma 6......but something resembling the Joeverse as we know it. What I would really love is for a Hasbro rep to come out and inform us about what the hell is going on with everything i.e. Resolute, why Wave 5 vehicles was canceled then planned for release once again, what's up with the 7 packs, are we going to see anything new at retail or do we have to wait all the way until mid July for new products? What's going on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Begrudgingly I'd still want it. It's been far too long since ANY new Joe cartoon. Even if this was dumbed down as far as violence, I would hope and think that the character design would remain, which is what really got my interest...well until I saw the trailer and damn near shat myself in delight.

NO!
1. Just because they've kept us waiting doesn't mean I'll inhale the first thing they throw at us. I've reached a level of expectation and I deserve to have that met! 2. They're already producing something that's pretty dumbed down for kids. It's coming out in August and stars Marlon Wayans. 3. If it's on the internet, then why should it be dumbed down? If kids aren't mature enough to handle violence or anything "adult" they shouldn't be on the internet by themselves in the first place. GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT! |
