if it is from the 25th line i wouldnt spend more than $15 on a figure. why spend all that cash on something new. leave it up to hasbro to rerelease these figures when they see how in demand they are.
i would rather spend big cash on older vehicles and such. |

I agree wholeheartedly. that's why it will likely be at least five years before I get a clear Wraith or a yellow Stalker. The difference between me and 99% of toy collectors? I'm patient.
Most of the reason for the high prices of these figures today isn't actual scarcity so much as it is hysteria. And I refuse to participate. food for thought. |

I'd pay maybe $50 for a Silver PDD, only because I like the gaudy style. Most other varients hold little interest. I traded a clear Wraith for a Doc.
Hell, make me an offer for my Loose black head Destro. |

outrageous, right? i'm using all that money to start up my ARAH collection. this thread helped me get over the notion that holding on to these modern figs would pay off in the future. to heck with that. they paid off NOW. |

I sell for what I paid for an item. I can sleep better knowing I provided a fellow collector with something they truly wanted rather than thinking I juiced them out of more cash than the item was worth. To each their own and I'm guilty of both...of course my Stalker sold on bidding not on a set price. Point is I feel better with the good karma rather than, in my opinion, the scam.

ARRRGH! (LOL)
Seriously though, I actually agreed with him...be patient and your golden. I love collecting toys from the 90's now like Iron Man and X-men, because they are so damn cheap - I mean inexpensive - and in some cases cheap too! (LOL)

I see the comparisons to other lines of figures and how "current prices" won't hold up to prices down the line. That is true, but there is something different about "good" GI Joe. It has retention. Valor vs Venom was not "good" GI Joe. Compare Joe comics to others of it's time......say transfomers, which was of equal/higher populaity in it's heyday of the 80's. Now those 80's transformers comics? Don't sell for crap. The marvel comics run of GI Joe? You can't buy the last issue for less than 100 dollars, and a normal issue of transformers might go for 50 cents as compared to a Joe issue for 3 bucks. I understand the rarity is a factor, but to me it seems that there is such a following for GI Joe and the quality of the 25th line that WON'T make these things drop in value. Clearly people are still paying almost 200 dollars for a opened piper because they want him to have him, not because they think he is a well done figure(the thing is obviously ugly).
The 25th line is well done, and that is the difference between it and others. How much they continue to be worth is up to Hasbro and if they flood the market/stop making them/re-release figures/variants. I don't plan on letting mine go, so it doesn't matter anyways. |
