Nothing in this mass market has any value. If you put any stickers on it, in 20 or 30 years the value will be null anyhow. Whats the point??

That could very well be true. I don't do it to increase the value of my toys as it is my intention to never sell them. I do it because I love to take vehicles that are beaten to hell and give them a new life. To me it is a labor of love.

From a collectors POV who like all original everything....yes, it sure does. For me, no. I think repro labels add to a vehicle, especially the vintage stuff since there isn't a chance in hell of finding an original sticker sheet for cheap.

Good discussion thread. I have been debating this for a while. I want to restore a vehicle to it's original look. But have been afraid to touch the stickers as I figured it would devalue or ruin the vehicle. I think now I am going to do a complete restore on it. I think I would rather do that than keep a junky looking vehicle laying around just because that was the way it has always been. I agree with someone else who said it is a labor of love.

Necro-thread!
Star Wars guys don't like repro decals. They are somewhat snobbish on the subject. GI Joe guys don't seem to care that much. There are some, but if they worry about the value because of repro decals, they can simply peel them off.

But yeah, I have no intention of re-selling my vehicles either so I'm not AS worried about devaluing it with the repros. But eventually someday I will probably have no choice and need to sell them too. But I'm not as worried about it anymore at least. |

Personally for me I would think they add to the value. Too many times I have seen Items on ebay and other various places listed as Mint and then you look at it and the decals are put on like shit or wrong or are peeling off completely. Then you look at vehicles like in Xerofalls restoration thread and they are beautifully done clean and crisp. I would much rather own a vehicle that has been cleaned and restored to all it's glory with repro labels than buy one that the labels are wrong or look like a kid put them on. Because I know when I Was a kid I wasn't taking as much time as I should have putting the decals on. I just wanted to play with the damn thing now I won't even touch labels with tweezers.

If I were buying a vehicle, I'd rather it have nice crisp decals.
Luckily most of the ones I get didn't even have decals applied originally, so they were clean slates. My adult hands are more steady than when I was a kid.

Yeah, same here. I might actually start searching for clean slate vehicles more now too since I know about repro labels. I'm guessing they are probably cheaper too if they already come with the stickers missing.
