I'll give a shout out for Gundam. I don't know if I would go with counterparts. At least not with the Rik Dom(?) and Snake-Eyes. I'm not familiar with the green one though. Either way the models look awesome, and I'd love to see some more.

I respect the Gundam series for it's long history, can't say that I watched much of it but what I've seen I prefer the older shows.
I'm more of a Robotech/Macross guy. |

I'm a huge fan of real robot war fiction. Just like the G.I. Joe (filecard, comicbook) fiction, I really enjoy the mechanical, hard science and military traditions aspects of the gritter types of giant robot anime.
My own recommendations are: Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Mobile Police Patlabor, Full Metal Panic!, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Fang of the Sun Dougram, and Maschinen Krieger ZbV 3000. I can totally picture seeing members of G.I. Joe or Cobra posing around rugged WWII looking mecha - done in an oil-painting style, like the cover art of a model kit (like this, but imagine that guy as a Viper of sorts). |
