I wanted to do a G.I. Joe Chain of command taking into account all sources (ie. Comics & Cartoons). What do you think? Who could I place as head of the Air Force? Any suggestions would be helpful.

The Commandant of the Marine Corps needs to be of equal rank to the other members of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, all of whom should be ranked O-10/General or Admiral.
We need some promotions. |

Yeah. I do not intend for them to be the actual joint chief of my joeverse. I was going off a Joint Chief chain of command. I am trying to figure out what to call them. I just mean for them to be advisors or to help coordinate w/ the different branches. Appreciate the suggestions.
I also wanted to add a presidental advisor. The guy from G.I. JOe extreme. Mr. Clancy. I added Topside as the communications officer of the USS Flagg & Dial-Tone as the the communications officer of the Pitt |

Hey Darkhawk75, it's nice to hear from you. Justanoldfan is a good friend, and he's very kind.
Setting up a good chain of command for the Joes can be frustrating, but I have found it very helpful. Once you've got a good command structure in place, it's really easy to organize the rest of the Joe team and to figure out how you want to try and complete your collection. So let's start at the TOP - who do you want to command your entire Joe team - Colton or Hawk? It's up to you, just like it's up to every fan. I use Hawk, but that's just me. Duke is a natural Choice to be the NCOIC of the whole team. Using him more like a CSM makes the most sense, but that's just me. Once that's done, decide how many commands you want under your commander... so let's say you want Colton at the top and then an Army, a Navy/Marine, and an Air Force for the Joe Team. Well, I use the rank on the file cards. Over all, with some notable exceptions, the file card's system of ranking comes in pretty handy. So Keel Haul is the highest Ranking Naval Officer, and Cutter is next in line. Lt. Torpedo is actually listed as CW-4, so he's not really an officer at all. There are no Marine Corps. Officers in G.I. Joe - none. This is something I complain about all the time. So I put my Marines under the jurisdiction of the Navy - that's pretty true to life. The Air Force has no general Officers in G.I. Joe. Payload is the highest ranking Air Force Officer in G.I. Joe - he's a Colonel. So you might use him. Sky Striker is next at LTC. Ace had been promoted to Major in some of the file cards prior to the 25th line. If you used Colton as your overall commander, Hawk seems like a logical choice to use as the Joe Army Commander. He can have General Flagg to help him. divide that up however you want. If you already used Duke as Colton's NCOIC, Stalker seems like a natural choice for Hawk's NCOIC. Colonel Courage is not a general, obviously, but he might be a helpful character to run all your support/logistics operations. Once you've got your major commands in place, move down the list of ranks to your officers. Use them as you see fit. Your Army may need Armor and Artillery as well as Infantry. Your Air Force may need to divide between Fixed wing and helicopters. Wild Bill is a natural choice to head up the rotary wing aircraft. Your Navy will have to take some organization? If you're using the Flagg, things get fun, but complicated. Do you have a SEAL Team? Do you have a lot of Marines? figure out who is in charge and fill in the rosters. Hope that helps, and if I can be of any further help please let me know.

Love the Idea. I'm not so familiar with the cartoon generals. Was Colonel Sharpe a Marine? If he was he would be the Highest ranking Marine Officer. He wouldn't be titled Commandant if he was but Chief of Staff like the others would work.
I'm not sure about the ranks assigned. Who is LtGen Fergeson (Air Force?) Keel Haul is a 0-9 equivalent which may be higher than Adm Ledger but Ledgers rank is not known. Austin could be a Lt Gen he's at least a Maj General. Hollingsworth is Maj General Flagg the elder is a unique one. I can see him moving up if he never died, but he can't outrank Austin even if they hold the same rank. I guess you have to figure what rolls they all have. Deputy commander vs advisor? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staff_(military) This gives you an overview of how the General Staff system works. there can be up to 9 different staff level positions. But your Naval guys with the USS Flagg and your Airforce Guys under Ferguson would almost have there own General Staff. I like how you are trying to include your communications guys, as all these Generals would have one. Savage as your highest Enlisted is a little questionable, but if you include him in your Joe verse more power to you. I personally understand to have Duke, Stalker, and Beachhead, Gung-Ho, Altitude and Mercer maybe Rock'n'Roll as Sgt Majors. Based on the Devils Due Command Structure they are as well. |

When did Psyche-Out become a captain?
Also when is Falcon going to get a promotion? That guy should have been a captain from the beginning... not to mention Steeler. That poor guy has been a 2LT for over 25 years.

Psyche-Out V3 Sonic Fighters is a 0-3.
both my Steeler and Falcon are Majors. Others that I can think of are like Duke is a E-9 and Stalker makes E-8 about that Stars and Stripes era of the line. |

Appreciate your opinions.
The Air Force gen. was something i threw in to just fill the spot till I figure who I want there. Its not Fergusion its Rogerson. Was watching Star Trek movie w/ the whales & he was the commander on the Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. Sgt. Savage is the highest only because I do not know much about him & I wanted Duke as 1st Sgt. Wasn't he supposed to be fighting in WWII, then got frozen or something? There is plenty of high ranking Sgt in Sky Patrol but I plan to show them together.
