first off i think you have done a great job! its a big task and labor of love to do this. I tried it once before and did the same type of thing of breaking teams down to respected branches.
Now I do something different. I loved the cartoon and really feel it put gi joe on the map for some many 80s kids. Thus I stick w the Hawk, Duke Flint Slaughter Beachhead. thing KINDA! what I do is basically think of flint slaughter & beachhead as Field Commanders and Team Leaders. I leave them all the same ranks they are known for. but Basically all the top rank guys like Courage Major Storm, surefire, Hull I have they do kinda nothing other than service as a council of such and the toon leaders do all the heavy lifting and leading. I no it may not be to popular but I like the idea IDW did w duke, promote him of 1SG to Colonel full bird! its throw back to the toon ep where lifeline shipwreck and dialtone all got promoted! lol!! but it solves all the problems of Duke being 2nd overall and being enlisted. also I went away from the divisions like navy marines and such and figured to make teams that had a wide range of guys so that any one team was covered w all aspects. I am right now making my teams Alpha: the pure best Duke, scarlet, beachhead spirit, shipwreck, lowlight, snakeeyes, roadblock Beta: Capt Falcon, tunnel rat, cross hair, dart, breaker, wild bill, blowtorch, and some green shirts Zeta: Flint, lady jay, barbque, wet suit, leatherneck, bazoka, deepsix Hellstorm: 100% kill squad, no one sees em everyone dies. Sgt Slaughter, Stalker, Snakeyes, Mercer, helix, jinx, Shockblast, lowlight. then I want a general team but I dont know what to call it other than general team LOL thats all i got so far but man a big thanks to you guys for the structuring you have really given me some ideas

I really like this topic, and you guys have great ideas.
My Joe set-up is pretty streamlined (I do have a timeline and Hawk was a Colonel with the OG13): Gen. Hawk is in command, with Duke, Flint, Beachhead, and Falcon as team leaders (in that order of seniority within the larger Joe team). Each team of 5 is assigned to a mission and additional members from the Joe ranks are added as needed. The teams are based on balance, relationships from the comics and cartoon, and the year in which they were released as toys. Cobra is another story all together: CC is the man with the big picture and he has different collaborators serving different roles, with money and power as the prime incentive. CC has an army of troopers and officers that he pays directly. Outside of that, each grouping (like Vipers, or Crimson Guard, etc) are their own 'fraternity', for lack of a better term. They compete to recruit from an open pool of Cobra inductees, and they are successful based on their reputation and prestige, and earning. For instance, a recruit may get offered to join the Alley Vipers, who are recently the Commander's first choice for urban assault missions. If the Alley Vipers don't succeed on a mission, they earn less, and no one would want to join. Total free market kind of thing. Each recruit also has to buy his own gear, accounting for all the variation among my figures. I hope that made sense. J |

Thanks.
When I started this, I was just trying to make the Command Structure make sense to me. Would have given up if it weren't for the support from the Filecard thread. I tried, in a round about way, to have the Cartoon Chain of Command, Hawk as Field Commander, Duke as his 1Sgt, Flint as the A-Team Leader, then Beach-Head as a Squad Leader in the A-Team. Also in tribute to the Cartoon under the Battle Corps, I placed Alpine & Bazooka on the same Fireteam. W/ Quick-Kick being on the same Rifle Squad. Also tried to place Leatherneck & Wet-Suit together, so now they both serve on the Flagg but on different Teams, the Mega-Marines & Devilfish respectivly. ohthree - I like that take on Cobra. Shouldn't Terra-Vipers be with the hostile environment branch?

Why do u say that? I was going by the Cobra Trooper - Explosive Specialst being Cobra's EOD, so Combat Engineer seemed like a good fit. The Frag-Viper was placed in between due to the 2nd version having Demolition as his Secondary MOS.
Also was thinking of replacing Volcano-Viper w/ Mega-Vipers then Nano-Vipers. Volcano-Vipers would become the next promotion from Hazard-Vipers & Terra-Vipers. Combining those two areas. Any thoughts? Last edited by Darkhawk75; 07-01-2012 at 07:37 AM.. |

I love it. This is pretty well set up. I like how Neo vipers is the path for officers.
I think the Frag to Terra-viper works. although I can see why Terra to Volcano can make sense as well. Then maybe move Frag vipers with the Saw vipers both of which can feed into CLAWS like FLAK AND HEAT-vipers. I especially like how jungle and mountain feed into Range vipers.
