I am also trying to group together the members of G.I. Joe into indivdual teams. For example:

I like the team Groups. I believe Blizzard has made E-8 in those lean years 1994-1997. I like how you got the Venom versus Valor Frostbite as Whiteout.

Darkhawk, you should hope over to the "What Secrets Lurk in the Filecards" thread. We've spent alot of time debating/organizing the Joes. Lots of good discussions along those lines.
I tend to use Gen. Colton as my overall Joe head. Gen. Austin and Hollingsworth are basically the same person, one is cartoon and the other is comic book. They both serve the same role, as the liason with the Pentagon/President. There doesn't need to be two people in that role, so it's basically pick the one you like most. Hawk is overall field commander, with General Rey as the army commander. Keel-Haul is naval commander and Payload is air force. Overall it goes Colton - Hawk - then the others for their respective branches. From that point it depends on how you break down/organize the rest of your Joes. I have my Joe forces split into 4 bases (5 if you count the Arctic Team): South America, North America (the main base, where Colton and Hawk are), Europe and Asia. The Arctic base would be in Greenland. To follow the cartoon requires ALOT of promotions to Duke and Flint. The comic wasn't a stickler for rank either. So after the very top structure, what goes on below is up to you as you'll have to promote and shuffle people around. But hop on by the Filecards thread, we get into alot of discussion on the rankings.

Appreciate your opinions.
The Air Force gen. was something i threw in to just fill the spot till I figure who I want there. Its not Fergusion its Rogerson. Was watching Star Trek movie w/ the whales & he was the commander on the Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. Sgt. Savage is the highest only because I do not know much about him & I wanted Duke as 1st Sgt. Wasn't he supposed to be fighting in WWII, then got frozen or something? There is plenty of high ranking Sgt in Sky Patrol but I plan to show them together. The Airforce guys present a problem as well but since they are so few you can just have the team under Payload, Skystriker or Ace like your Arctic team. Payload being the highest ranked Air Force guy, but if you have a Space/Star Brigade you may switch the team Under Skystiker or bump Ace up to Colonel as they had his rank in Devil's Due. |

Something else you can do to fill in some of the blanks (in command staff, communications, etc..), is take some of the other versions of characters and make your own.
There's alot of Duke's out there, so can make one of the versions into a new character to fill any holes.

I liked Gen. Rey every eince he 1st came out in DD. I have him in charge of my Maruaders. Kinda of a spin off from the main group. The members are my favs from the comics & cartoon.
Also my way of using Matt Trakker. SInce I was a fan of that series as well. Last edited by Darkhawk75; 05-24-2009 at 10:06 PM.. |

Basic idea was Rock 'n Roll & Clutch (comics & Bazooka & Alpine. I liked the fact that the latest Alpine's filecard stated that he could easily switch from mountain trooper to using a jet pack. Works for me in the regards that would make him like a aerial recon for this team.
Slaughter is ther to keep Steeler in line. Since steeler's filecard states he has authority issues before the joe team. I am currently working on more Tnk units like this. I might have them all under Rey. |

That's a really good use for Gen. Rey.
So how come you don't have any of the actual Marauder's in there (Footloose, Spirit, Barbecue, Mutt, Low-Light)? Are you going to follow the sub-groups as laid out by Hasbro? I "dissolved" the groups, for the most part, as the line-ups don't work the way I want my Joe team structured.

I plan to have the groups "dissolved."
To me Spirit will always be on the main team. Barbecue is going to be on a team of other firefighters & flamethrowers. Just trying to figure where I want that team. Mutt is apart of the Steel Brigade. I use that team as Security SO all Law Enforcement joes are apart of that unit reporting to Sure Fire. With Bulletproof & the Steel Brigade Commander helping him run it. Trying to decide if I want Low-Light apart of the Steel Brigade or use him like I normally do, a sniper for one of the field teams. |
