Nomenclature- Finding a Standard--

For the importance of nothing other than uniformity, I think it's time the Joe fan community agreed on a naming standard for 2008 Joe figure Waves.

For instance, we've got some people calling the Torpedo/RnR/Battle-armor CC 'set' Wave 6 and some calling it Wave 2, '08 (okay, that's mostly just me as of this writing). I think it's time we either agree to reset the Wave naming convention with the first 2008 Wave- which will technically be the Torpedo, etc. al. Wave- back to Wave 1, or just continue the current numbering with Wave 6 right on through the rest of 2008. Honestly I'm good with either choice or even something better, but the lack of a standard is starting to get to me a tad.

Granted, I'm sure some could care less and if that's you, no need to reply here. You're opinion is noted and appreciated. If you do care, however, and this naming thing is sticking in your craw like it is mine, please chime in.

I agree, and myself been thinking about this. I think we should probably start sticking with calling this wave '2008 Wave 1'

That being said, I think the problem is that we still don't have out the Waves from '07 yet. Once those get out, we'll probably start hearing the new '08 waves being named appropriately.

Okay, this was discussed briefly on another posting, but here is the skinny from the horse's mouth (Hasbro): What we have been affectionately calling Wave 5 is actually Wave 1 08 (officially), so if you don't want to breed confusion, that's where to start the 08 reset.

You're welcome !

It should stay wave 5 - 6 ect.......... until the 25th Logo comes off the package. It makes NO sense to call it wave 1 - 2 because its 2008.

It also helps keep in proper order with online retailers. Not to mention SEARCH ENGINE RESULTS! If we start it over you will get mixed results when searching for 25th Joes until the end of time.

I'm just the messenger. That's what it says on the cases. Now, we all know Hasbro would never do anything that doesn't make sense...

I agree with destro, it's just easier to remember the number line continuously instead of reseting it every year.

With all due respect to those who believe otherwise, I really think that we should be following Hasbro's naming convention. This becomes especially important when Hasbro reps start referring to Wave 2, 3, 4, etc. '08, and here we still are referring to 2008 Waves as Wave 6, 7, etc. This kind of mis-naming by fans (IMHO, naturally) only further confuses newbies and fellow fans alike as we struggle to understand what each other is talking about.

Others can do as they like, but I feel it best to abide by Hasbro's scheme and call the Torpedo, et. al. Wave as Wave 2, '08, with all subsequent Waves named accordingly.

After giving this even further thought, I've decided on the structure listed below for how I will refer to the 25th Joes going forward. Again, most will probably not care and use whatever method they currently find comforting, but for the sake of clarity on my part, here goes:

All 2007 Waves up to and including Wave 4-

W1-07 (SE, SS, etc.)
W2-07 (Buzzer, Lady Jay, etc.)
W3-07 (Zartan, Stalker, etc.)
W4-07 (re-issue 'filler' Wave)

All Waves Hasbro considers in their 2008 release window-

W1-08 (aka Wave 5)
W2-08 (aka Wave 6)
etc...

I'm with you. I don't think you can go wrong using the manufacturer's nomenclature.
