I'm trying to come up with a way of organizing my Joes that makes sense. Some filecards list the different schools a Joe has attented or who he/she enlisted with, but some give no info other than they enlisted with GI Joe. So my initial thought of splitting them into Navy/AirForce/Marines/Army is out. I thought about using the Primary Military Specialty but that resulted in a big pile of Infantry and a bunch of litte piles of specialists. Other than using the year that the figures were released, what other methods of grouping can I use to display my Joes? I really wanted to use the branch of military that they were originally from, but I'm not sure where to get that info if it exists at all. It also seems like a few of the Joes never belonged to any branch before joining GI Joe (BBQ and Quick Kick).

I've always done alphabetical by code name. Joes first, then Cobra and their allies. Of course, you could always do alphabetical by last name. Another option would be rank, then alphabetical within that by last name or code name.

I display mine by the year they came out in the ARAH line. For the Joes. The Cobras are just a mess ready to retreat.

It's military. Use their ranks.

Yeah schools ain't gonna do it. There may be many schools they didn't list that the character took. Go by something easily quantifiable & simple. Alphabetical by last name, rank, serial number - doesn't matter. As long as you know your system, you'll have no problem searching through the cards.

By rank, Hawk in front and ste the on E-4 you do not like in the rear. I like to think of it like a horse parade. Best horse in front, pooper scooper in the last spot (BBQ).

I've got a listing I did for a GI Joe RPG I wrote a few years ago... Officer, Warrant Officer, Enlisted, in PayGrade Order, By Service.
It's on an Excell spreadsheet, I'll upload it to google for ya when I'm not on my laptop.
