Hi - the people on thefwoosh sent me here to ask some of my joe questions. I hope this is the right forum
I love Gi joe, I loved the cartoon, still watch it at 21. I recently have decided to get an autograph of all living gi joe voice actors from the cartoon, I have had fun with successes from zach hoffman, neil ross, jack angel and john Hollstetter , I've often seen on autographs websites Arthur Burghart Signs in care of his agency, so i sent a photo and a card and got them back with a decline letter. http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1920/bahkl8.jpg Does Mr Burghardt sign at cons like botcon or joecon? |

What a douche. :(
How did he become so sucessfull in the first place? People enjoied his work and wanted more - FANS!! What an ungreatful POS, what's an autograph cost him? Don't give me that "intelectual property" BS either. How many people WAY more famous and better of than him GLADLY give away their autographs? :( .

Wow. Welcome to the Tank!
Not suprised by this. A lot of "celebs" are doing this now. That said, it's too bad. maybe if you catch him at a Con or something.

Joe or Transformer conventions, if he went too a Joe convention they'd probably promote it since he did play a major character

Should have sent him a $20.
Sounds like the rantings of a paranoid asshat. I attend most of the major comic shows in the country over the last 15 to 20 years, and the man has never been at one the shows that I've attended. Through a little research, I've found that he's into theater now, and he may consider himself to "important" to sign for a cartoon fan. After all, since Mark Hamill went into theater, he refuses to sign any SW items. If I were you, I'd look for something at a show that has already been signed. Tell you what, send me a pm with how much you are willing to pay, and I'll check at the shows when I attend. MegaCon is at the end of this month, so that will be the next chance I get to look. Edit: I would also be reluctant to tell him that I was a GI Joe or Transformers fan. He may look down at that part of his career. If you take the opportunity to mail him again, you may tell him that you are a fan of his theater work including his play that he wrote in which he also starred as Frederick Douglass.

Eh, I shouldn't have to lie, Guys like Neil ross and other voice actors have been real friendly, and taken the time to write back and communicate. As far as fee's go I've seen numerous successes on sites like fanmail.biz / star tiger where burghardt often signed for joe fans and wrote back a personal note. Guy's like Duke snider and george kell who charge $5 or 10 if you send something like a card to their home I have no problem including a bit of cash with, but the odd thing is I have seen other destro successes online.
@ohiostateguy - Not sure what I would want to pay. I bought a certified (Topps) sgt slaughter for less than 12 at a show, so I really have no clue, it's easy for me to place a value on a sports guy, but voice actors are new grounds for me. Last edited by Darkhawk; 02-13-2009 at 03:38 PM.. |

That really sucks... he was happy to sign everything I sent him a while back, he even got my email address so he could send me stuff to critique...

So basically it said
Dear Dark Hawk, I ain't doin' that sh*t anymore, I don't care that we're both from the south, go f*ck yourself. Love, Arthur Burghardt What could you possibly do with a signature on a trading card? Wouldn't you need more information than that to even attempt identity theft? |
