I'm on a roll with the idea of expanding the joe universe, this time here's one to go with the Colector's DTC line of figures and vehicles (snap and excange weapons and such) Joe fights overkill and Doc Terror and Hacker with 3 new recruits Ace McCloud, Max Ray and Jake Rockwell Star brigade commandos from the skybolt defiant space station this team could fight the ever expanding threat of Overkill and his new team of cyborgs his new Generals, Doc Terror and Hacker This Star Brigade team of "Centurions will take the fight from land, to sea, to air and to Space. This idea would be Awesome!

dude, throw in a period every once in a while, I can't tell where one thought ends and another begins. unless, you were simply hyperventilating with excitement.

I do like the expanded universe concept, but honestly I'd rather see alternate design versions of my favorite characters based on pre-production art, much in the same vein as the SW R. McQuarrie packs. Imagine a pre-production art version of Snake Eyes, Destro, Cobra Commander, or other favorites!
Or, imagine if (for instance) these characters were artistically reimagined by some of today's top comic book illustrators- like Brian Hitch, Joe Quesada, J. Scott Campbell, Mike Mignola, etc. I'm not saying this WILL happen, but it's taking concepts currently in the action figure arena (pre-production art versions, alternate and expanded universe concepts, etc.), and mixing and matching to create a truly unique and hopefully collectible product. Seems like marketing 101 type stuff to me, but maybe no one else has thought of this yet. |

Oh dear Lord. The idea of Mike Mignola reimagining my favorite Joes has my nerd senses twitching with excitement. Not that it'll ever happen, but it'd be awesome.

Was that sarcasm Onslaught? (And yes, thinking of a Expanded universe has me excited). Master Collector Has considered doing a Joe Vs. Transformers set, so anything is possible.

I think the problem any property that's been around for long enough runs into is stagnation. The Joes definitely encountered this in the 90's, with some of the worst figure ideas ever created. On the one hand I applaud them for taking chances, but on the other, I want to seriously slap whoever thought up the Eco-Warriors. :-) Anyway, taking advantage of modern artists (Joe fan or not) who have their finger on the collective popular culture pulse, can do nothing but provide much needed new blood for this much beloved line. |

It's going to be part of any modern toy line produced for mass retail, so you might as well get used to it. There's a lot of profit to be made by using existing tools, but we don't have to buy anything we don't want. For those who do buy them, that just means more success for the line and money in the design budget for new products. That's a good thing. |
