Thats it guys. I'm quitting Joe collection until I finish my masters degree in economics and can understand why they're priced 12.99 instead of 7.99!
I dunno how I kept up with all this as a kid! ;P |

So what I'm not understanding is the rising costs? What would be wrong with reverse inflation. Keep labor the same, keep output the same, but make a pay cut to all across the board, therefore cut costs of production, therefore cut prices, and finally making the cost of living cheaper. Example, loaf of bread 2.00 cost to bake it .25cents for goods, 50 cents for over head, 25cents for manufacturing cost. .50 cents bread company profit, .50 cents grocery store profit. Cheaper bread moving more units therefore making more profit, therefore recovering the economic downturn. I know it sounds a bit daffy but it is something that should at least be entertained.

I couldn't even imagine a more rudimentary argument. GI Joe's are not bread! Toys are a luxery. The consumer is not going to buy more because they are cheaper or because they are the same price. Luxery items go up in price because the overhead to produce them goes up, but the number of consumer's buying them goes down. GI Joe vs Buying Bread... my God...
Listen dude it was a rhetorical example to prove a point, not meant as a strict comparison, so do me a favor and get off your high horse!! |

They are fluctuating prices to see what we are willing to pay for them...
I've seen the prices for Joes as low as $5.00 and as high as $7.99 within one year!!! Now they are back down to $6.84 at some Targets and $6.99 a TRU and $6.77 at Wat- Mart... If people don't buy the merchandise when the movie comes out then the prices will drop for that merchandise like it did for the Indiana Jones toy line... However this not likely because if the type of movie it will be and the money its destined to make... |
