Falcon. My older brother got me into Joe, so being a little brother myself, I related to Falcon. Also Chuckles, because I loved his figure.

I don't know that I can easily narrow it down to one...
Flint is a perennial favourite from the UK comics and that fact that as a kid, I always liked "the leader guy" which Flint was in the UK comics in '87/'88. He was also one of my first two Joes with Footloose, who, naturally, I also have a soft-spot for. Airtight is another personal favourite owing to me thinking he was a pretty badass dude going into god-knows what crap to fight Cobra and my peculiar fixation with the colour yellow. Snake Eyes is another favourite for being so badass. I had a crush on Lady Jaye, so yeah... I also love Ace for the fact the Tomcat was my favourite plane after seeing Top Gun and natch I had the Skystriker. |

The reason for me has a lot to do with the Sunbow cartoon in the fact that they introduced the characters in the cartoons before they did in the comics and action figures. So, with each of these leading characters (and all three were portrayed in the cartoons as leaders), they just dropped them on us unannounced. I call it the Star Wars Holiday Special Boba Fett technique. Plus for Flint, he was the new guy in charge, had a strong-sounding voice, and was portrayed as sort of a tough-guy (hand-to-hand combat). For Lady Jaye, she was also the only Joe-femme that looked like she belonged in the military. Jason |

Outback followed by Shockwave.
Both really just have to do with finding the figures at Woolworths and Bradlees as a boy. I never had the 'name' figures like Flint, Duke or Snake Eyes V2. These second tier types that didn't appear in the cartoon were my Joe team. I still remember seeing their card art for the first time. I was sold from that moment on both (actually thought Shockwave was a new Snake. Eyes) |

Favorite Joe: UK Tiger Force Outback- the white hair made him look so bad ass, and he was TF!
Favorite Cobra: Alley Viper V1! Bright Orange as an Urban Assault uniform? "Here I am, MOFOs, Come get some! Overall: Iron Grenadier Destro, because the Black/Gold/Crimson is classy, and he is Scottish Royalty.

Mine is Clutch, bar none, as my handle easily gives it away. The Marvel comic for me is all about the first 24 issues plus the Special Missions series. Clutch was a major player in the first two-parter which introduced the Oktober Guard (issues #6 & 7) where we learned that he was more than clever enough to save the mission on his own even if he came across as a male chauvinistic pig to Scarlett. That adventure made him very real to me. The VAMP jeep, Clutch's action figure, and his file card took on a special meaning after I read those two comics.
Steven Grant later nicely played out Clutch's love/hate relationship with Scarlett in "The Diplomat" (issue #9) while still providing comedy relief. He was the first character to get his own spotlight story in "Home Is Where The War Is" (issue #20) where Grant basically showed that Clutch was worthy of his own spinoff series by portraying him as a Frank Castle-like common man with a street smart cred which stood him out from the rest of the team as Grant fleshed out his personality. Clutch was also very cool as part of the initial trio he formed with Breaker and Steeler in earlier issues such as #3 and #5, where he also ended up saving the day on both occasions. Even General Flagg was impressed with the guy. (I still miss Flagg to this day.) Eventually Clutch faded into the background as more and more Joes joined up, but he had one last great moment while serving as field leader during "Words of Honor" in Special Missions #2, which remains my favorite story from that series and one of my top five Joe comics of all time. Larry Hama gave us some deeper insight into Clutch's Jewish heritage and how WWII greatly affected his family. We see a grittier, more somber side of Clutch there, and the ending is truly priceless.
