As I read more and more threads, its seems that price tags on Joes keep getting higher and higher. What are the most crazy prices you have seen in your local stores???
Local comic store had MOC singles for 19.99. I bought three figures that I wanted thinking that it was a typo on the price tag. When I got to the register I was wrong. They wanted 19.99 a figure. Awful to say, I told the employee what I thought. Last edited by NAJA EMPIRE; 06-19-2009 at 06:05 PM.. |

I think what Wal-Mart has the stones to charge for a TF Deluxe figure is a crime.

Are comic shops scalping at that price or is it due to higher cost (as they don't have the purchasing power as the Walmarts and TRUs of the world)?

A year ago, Flint was cost over $35.00 a piece on one of my local toy store. I was that close to get it, but I finally found it at one local Walmart store for $4.88.

That is why I do not carry new stuff (or very little), I refer everyone to EE through my site for the new stuff.

That's why tonight I rolled up to Target and got me a Hound/Ravage and Cyclonus for 8.99 a piece. Then I went to Wal Mart to pick up a few items and went into the toy section and flipped off those 12.88 TF's because they were WAAAAYYY overpriced. Target has made more money off of me this 2009 year than Wal Mart has and that's a tough fact! |

What people have to realize is that Hasbro will not deal with locally owned shops, period. The only option us store owners have are to buy from Diamond, Entertainment Earth, or another retailer wholesaler. As I am sure you know, it is cheaper to go to Wal-mart or Target and buy them than it is to buy them from a distributor. Basically, Hasbro's refusal to deal with "the small guy" forces scalping upon the community. If they wish to stop scalping, start giving the small guy a price break. That will never happen, so scalping will continue on forever I am afraid.
