I don't know if anyone has posted this before but here goes. I was thinking what Sci-Fi shows would make great G.I. Joe scale figures and vehicals. Here is the list I came up with.
1. Space Above and Beyond 2. Babylon 5 3. Firefly 4. Battlestar Galactica (both old and new series) 5. Stargate(both shows) 6. Farscape 7. "V" 8. Dune 9. Starship Troopers Roughnecks |

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. I want a Vorvon from the Space Vampire episode immediately if not sooner.

Well, as I recall, back in the late '70s/early '80s Mego did a line of 3 3/4" Buck Rodgers figures and vehicles. They were semi-compatible with the Joes. Anyway, not sure if these qualify as "sci-fi" but I nominate Airwolf and Blue Thunder.

Space above and beyond and Roughnecks were two underated shows that deserved an audience. I have both on dvd. Both dealt with smiliar themes - intersellar war, a grunts point of view of war, band of brothers storytelling. And to top it all - both came before the much hated/loved Battlestar Galactica on much smaller budgets. BSG took much from those 2 shows.
So yeah, I'd wish we had toys for Space and Roughnecks. There's real injustice in the universe when toys are made for Platoon and not for these great shows. |
