I'd say it's time to trade her in for a newer/younger model. Once those older models get that nagging noise it never goes away. In fact, it's likely to just get worse as time goes on and no mechanic in the world can fix it. I would also suggest that you send your current nagging, clunker to the junkyard to be crushed. That's a lot cheaper and definitely more expedient than the recycling program we loving call divorce.

My wife backs me up on my obsesive collecting. She will even hunt for me, but of course every now and then I hear it too. She was probably having a bad day, or your obsession affected her in some way. There are times where we are out on the weekends and I find myself wanting to stop at every location possible. This is what gets to my wife. oh well, if she was cool with it before, she will get over it.

Tell her you want to start collecting classic cars -- I mean real cars, not Hot Wheels!
I think some of these others have offered good advice. I would remind your wife that you are not hurting the family finances, and that you have it as your hobby. Also, is she involved in any sort of hobby/collection that takes time/money/etc? I also think that Joes are therapeutic, and I could spend a lot of money for an hour with a therapist or spend a lot of money for a lot of Joes. I customize, so that really does put it into a hobby category for me, as we go to hobby lobby together to get stuff I need for my hobby and stuff she needs for her hobby. Also, I'm no counselor, but why sudden change on her part? Did something else happen? And as others have mentioned, you could be doing something more expensive/worse. I also like guitar, and I don't spend near as much on Joe and Star Wars stuff as I would on guitars, although guitars probably have a better resale value.
I don't know how to explain Joes to somebody who doesn't "get it". I am a little embarrassed about it sometimes. I don't even put it on my facebook page because I don't want people I grew up with thinking, "Well he did turn out to be a dork after all, didn't he?" even though I know that there's really nothing wrong with it. I like the way it takes me back to a nice part of my childhood, I like the excitement of being able to buy things I couldn't when I was a kid and having the power to say "I am getting this." I like the thrill of the hunt, as well as the collecting aspect. I think some of the figures are just darn cool. And I can share some of this with my sons now that they are getting older. Especially Star Wars stuff. My 5 yo is really into it, so when I buy a figure, he gets a figure.

My wife is awesome about it. She has bought me some awesome pieces over the years for Christmas, B-day, fathers day, anniversary. Here are some examples.
Optimus Prime - Complete
Megatron - Complete
Shockwave - Complete
Jazz - Incomplete
Kup - Complete
Scourge - RID
Trypticon - Incomplete with Box
Combaticons - Complete Bruticus
Vintage Star Wars
Millenium Falcon - Complete
Death Star Playset - Incomplete with Box (This was this past Christmas)
Now saying that, I annoy the hell out of her when I find some great pieces and don't shut up about them. Sometimes she ignores me when I mention something important becasue she thinks I am talking toys. I catch hell for doing stuff in my toy room when I procrastinate on other things around the house. She rolls her eyes when I hit the thrift shops and flea markets on lunch 3 times a week.
Overall she loves that this is my passion, but wishes I would tone it down at times. Explain how you feel about it. If she still isn't buying it as her if she would rather you spend the money on cheap booze and cheaper women??? Just kidding don't tell her that unless you want to sleep in the climate controlled storage area.

Hahahah this thread is hilarious. I like how there's always at least one post saying "DIVORCE HER" because she doesn't understand why you buy action figures designed for kids.
Just have a conversation with her like an adult. Don't yell, don't scream. Maybe she has valid points. Asking a bunch of dudes on the internet isn't a great way too solve disagreements with people
Guys you gotta support G.I. Joe or else we won't have G.I. Joe on the shelves and they haven't released Spaceshot. We can't have an anniversary line without Spaceshot!

It really comes down to what do you love more, collecting toys, comics, movies, etc. or your wife, her feelings, being married, etc.
I have a younger very supportive girlfriend but if she were ever to really express that my hobbies were causing a problem between us, then I would give them up.
Obviously, communication is key and those things are important to you which you have no doubt expressed to her, but women don't always see it that way... Often, your enjoyment from collecting things is seen as a substition for the enjoyment of just being married/in a relationship/whatever...being with your wife.
If that is how she feels, then no amount of trying to convince her will matter.
Ultimately, though you have to do what makes you happiest and sometimes that means sacrificing something you love.
Now...that will be $135.00.

I agree that if this is causing a rift in the relationship then you might have to come to a compromise. Having said that I also know from experience that if she doesn't get it and wants you to grow up then she will never get it and it will just be a waste of time and money to her. I am in a similar situation she deals with it but doesn't really get it although she does find me figures now and then. Good Luck on this one.
....and knowing is half theYo Joe!

This is what I think you wife is thinking. She understands you have a hobby. But it makes no sense to her that you keep buying Joes just to box them up and take space up. In her mind that makes no sense. A waste if anything. It makes sense to me as I'm guessing your storing them away until you get the space to properly display them. It may be best to either get a bigger home if possible so that you can finally display them or find a way to make better use of them in your home like making cool shelves or something for them. Get creative, its your home too. My 2 cents.
Loyal fan since 1982.

Frankly, I dont care if my wife gets it or not. Its not hurting anyone and its an enjoyable, clean hobby. Yes, its a great connection to childhood and frankly, growing up aint all that. Ive seen some incredible collections and some incredible dios. Yes, Im 41 and I have 2 children and I collect GI JOEs as well as some other stuff. I have converted my basement, part of it is my toys and the other part is set up for my girls. So what if she doesnt get it? You arent cheating on her and you are getting something for your money. My wife, her eyes glaze over into dullsville when I start talking about the dios I want to do. Its not worth the time. I dont understand how women can talk about makeup or an argument for over 4 hours and repeating the same damn thing. How about going on faith, it makes you happy and it hurts no one. I couldnt give a damn about the grown ups that look at me funny, I pity them that they cant enjoy a cool toy, whether it be old or new. I get that she doesnt get it, but then, she doesnt have to. Only you have to enjoy it, if she wants to look around here at the forum and see what guys talk about, go for it. There are women here as well that love Joes.
or you could try this one..
Joes are about regular folk that have a special skill or two but still have faults, Joes are about regular people put in extra-ordinary situations and dealing with it. It stretches all the way back to the first 12 inch Joes and the ADVENTURE TEAM, then in the 1980s, with the boon of STAR WARS, Hasbro made LITTLE JOES and with vehicles they were incredibly successful. There isnt a person I know that didnt have GI JOE in thier life. Yes, some folks grew out of it, some didnt, why do you have to grow up? You pay bills, you treat everybody right, why cant you have something for yourself? If she doesnt get the fact that you enjoy it, then ask her why she just cant accept it. Tell her to take it on faith. Just because a man or woman likes toys, dont mean they arent grown up. Have you seen the prices of collectibles lately, its like art, it just goes up in price and value.
okay, that's all I got.
