Stepford wives! Where can I get one of those? They'll do anything and put up with everything. Including your collection.

I know I am from a different generation than most of you guys (I am 50, have 3 grown daughters and 3 grandchildren), and my wife, though she is a bookaholic (then on the other hand, so am I, and no, she doesn't read romance, she reads sci-fi, history, fantasy and theology, same as I do, which has worked up into a VERY extensive library in the past 30 years), but I digress.
She is happy to know where I am and what I am doing. I am not out with the boys or whatever, getting drunk, chasing women, smoking pot, etc, etc, all or some of which seem to be the hobbies of WAY too many "grown up" men we have known over the years. Honestly, she and I have never understood why certain hobbies/activities are deemed "acceptable" and others are frowned upon. If your collecting is having no adverse impact on the family other than someone having asked her "When is your husband going to grow up?", which is what I get from your post, I see no reason to change/give up something you enjoy. And I just asked, and my wife totally agrees with my post. Or, as a T-Shirt one of my daughters gave me says: "Growing old is required, Growing up is optional." |

You said you have 2 sons, so I'd suggest getting them involved if they aren't already. My wife is actually supportive of my hobby because my son and I spend time together on it. When I first started collecting with him, I told her that GI Joe collecting was one of the things my dad and I did together (he was in the military).
